I guess a good place to start would be to explain what a casino cashback bonus is. From a casino’s point of view, they are clever as they encourage players to play more. But there's no doubt they are also very beneficial to players. Basically, the casino gives you a percentage of your losses back after or over a certain period.
There are many different versions of a casino cashback promotion. Each come with different levels of strings attached. This is where I come in. Not every cashback casino is born equal, so we'll go through the many versions and separate the good, the bad, and the ugly.
Let's use the golden ticket of cashback promotions as an example of what you can get. This is the promotion on all losses. Normally, this runs from Monday to Sunday, and the casino will give you back a percentage of your net losses, say 5% - 10%. This covers everything you play in the casino.
Most the time, a casino cashback bonus will kick in when you lose. There will be different versions of this, but that's the main trigger. The best Irish casinos may even give you cashback even when you win. But it's rare.
Wagering Requirements
It can be hard to write about bonuses. Particularly because it's hard to be specific when talking about them more generally. A good example of this is the wagering requirements for casino cashback bonuses. Most don't have any wagering requirements, and are therefore no wagering bonuses. These are something of a rare treat in the world of casino bonuses. And it's one thing that makes cashback promos such a hit.
But I can't stress enough. You should read the terms and conditions before committing to anything. Some sites may find a way to stick wagering requirements onto or around your cashback. So always check!
Not to harp on about it, but every cashback casino will be different when it comes to the specific bonus they offer. So I'll run you through some of the versions you're likely to come across. And again, remember to always give the terms and conditions a once over before diving in.
Cashback Welcome Bonus
Any site worth its salt will have a casino welcome bonus to attract players. These bonuses will always differ from casino to casino. But they usually have some combination of a matched deposit, free spins, and a cashback promo.
You need to be very careful when choosing a cashback casino welcome offer. There are strings attached to it, so any wrong move may result in disqualification. Time limits, specific games, and deposit minimums are all factors that may need to be considered. But it can be great for your bankroll when you do find a top notch offer.
💡 An Example:
Say I sign up to a site and part of the welcome offer is 10% cashback for the first 24 hours. This is with a minimum deposit of €20 and a maximum casino cashback bonus total of €100. The offer stands for all games like live blackjack, and at the end of the 24 hours, my net losses are €200. That would mean I would get €20 back from the casino, which is a decent little deal.
Daily Cashback Bonus
A daily cashback bonus is a sign of a casino that looks out for us players. I’m a big fan of these. Because they mean that no matter how bad a day you have, you’ll always get a little back at the end of the day.
These bonuses will also have some strings attached. You may have to bet a minimum amount on each given day to qualify, and you may be limited in which games it applies to.
💡 An Example:
Say I get 5% of my losses when I play real money slots, as long as I wager a minimum of €50 that day. That would mean if I lost €100, I would have €5 in bonus cash waiting for me, likely at the start of the next day.
Weekly Cashback Bonus
Well, I think you know where we’re going with this one. A weekly casino cashback bonus is the exact same as a daily cashback bonus, just it's calculated over a week. I personally seek these out as they're great value and a sign of a good cashback casino.
This bonus is very likely to be limited to specific games and have a maximum return. That's why you must always check the terms. You don’t want to be stuck playing a game you don’t like to qualify for.
💡 An Example
Say a cashback bonus casino offers 10% cashback with a maximum return of €200 on net losses on the Book of Dead slot game. I go on to lose a total of €100 on the eligible Book of Dead slot over the week. Come the next week, I land and unlock €10 in cashback to play with.
Monthly Cashback
You see where this is going. The big appeal about doing cashback monthly is how big that drop could be come the end of the month. If you tend to game every day, you could build up a big cashback pot without even realising.
Terms are vital here though. There may well be a minimum you need to wager in the month to unlock it. And there's likely to be a cap on what the maximum account can be. Still, these are great promos.
💡 An Example
Through June I wager €400 on eligible games, above the minimum €200 needed for monthly cashback. Come the 1st July, my promised 15% cashback for last month's totted up and gifted back. I receive an extra €60 to play with.
Cashback on All Losses
Now we get to the holy grail of offers. I’m going to immediately throw a wet blanket over your hopes, though I’m afraid. It's very rare for any casinos with cashback offers to include this one.
If you do find one, I will say sign up for that casino! A cashback on all losses means you get back a certain percentage of all your net losses on all games. As I said it's very rare, and the vast majority of cashback promos will include some stipulations.
💡 An Example
I've been playing various games throughout day and my net losses come in at €25. The site promises 10% cashback every time I lose. The next day, I see my bankroll topped up by €2.50 for my previous day's losses.
Cashback When You Win
This is also a rare promotion but one I’m quite fond of. I suppose it's a good promotion for gamers with a lot of confidence. So feel free to draw your own conclusions about me! It does exactly what it says on the tin: you get extra funds back when you win.
There will certainly be some T&Cs to watch out for here. You'll probably need to win a certain amount, play a certain game, or meet specific wagering requirements. If you go data, players tend to lose more than they win. So a promo that offers cashback on losses will likely be better for your bank balance. But the thought of getting extra cashback on winning is exciting for sure.
💡 An Example
I wager €15 in a session on particular bonus slots. Finally, I land a win. As part of a promo, the site offers to given back 10% of whatever I wagered to get to my win and end the session. Later on, an extra €1.50 lands in my account.
VIP Programme Cashback
All the very best promos are usually found inside of VIP programmes. You'll usually have had to put a shift in to get into the programme already. So bonus terms are usually pretty lenient here - including at Irish cashback casinos.
Whisper it, but some VIP Programmes will even offer 50% cashback to their most loyal players. One of the few strings that may be attached to these promos is that eligible games may be limited.
