888 is one of those gambling brands that needs little introduction. We’re certainly not talking about a newcomer here. These guys have been doing their thing as long as anyone. This is a truly global casino site that partners with sister platforms for sports betting and poker.
So you’d be right to expect big things. A major player like this should be getting all the basics right and then some. But take it from me – that’s not a given. Buckle up as I go investigating and deliver a frank, fair verdict in this 888 Casino review.

We’ll start as any UK online casino experience starts. The bonus(es).
My gut feeling is that 888 doesn’t go particularly big on bonuses. There’s a generous welcome bung, but after that, the promos take a back seat. This is no bad thing. I’ve seen plenty of casinos mask poor performance in other areas with stacks of complex, confusing offers. It may well be a sign of confidence from 888 that they don’t need to lean into constant giveaways.
Before I get into the details. Just bear in mind that casino bonuses change all the time. So there’s no guarantee you’ll find the same offers I did by the time you join at 888. Still, you should get some sense of what to expect.
The welcome package I got at 888 Casino was refreshingly straightforward. It seems the site go down the deposit match route, and don’t throw in any extras with that.
I didn’t miss the extras, and I’ll tell you why. The match I got was a whopping 200%! It’s rare to see such a big number attached to this and don’t be surprised if it comes down in future. It applied to my first deposit only, and was capped, but I didn’t deposit enough to hit that cap anyway.
A few insights that might be of relevance. I could only play the bonus funds on selected slot games. That was absolutely fine with me, I quickly found one of my favourite titles among the list that were available. But something to note if you much prefer table games. Also, I only had 48 hours from the point of creating my account to deposit and activate the bonus.
Key takeaway: if you don’t dive right in, you risk losing your welcome package at 888.
From what I could tell, there are usually a few ongoing promos at 888. Since I’ve been at the site, there’s been two or three at a time tops. I’ll be honest, none of what I saw really blew me away. But I’d still recommend a regular check of the promotions page.
I’ll give an example of one I did like. It was on live casino roulette in the 888 Private Room. If the ball finished on the number 8, you’d get £8 in bonus funds. While not the biggest giveaway in the world, it added an extra element to the gameplay. And those sorts of bonuses are golden for me.
888 have a separate site for bingo. Two sites, in fact. They are 888Bingo and 888ladies. Because, apparently, men don’t play bingo. News to me.
At both of these sites you can play a wide choice of bingo games, slots, instant wins, and scratchcards. Even within the main category, you’ve got your pick of free bingo, bingo roulette and mega-money bingo.
I mention this because both these sites offer their own raft of bonuses, including a welcome package. One that you can still claim despite having used the package at the main 888 Casino site.
Bingo may well not be your thing, it isn’t mine (I’m a man after all). But I thought it worth pointing out the whole extra cache of bonuses over on the sister sites.
888’s answer to this comes down on the loyalty scheme side than the VIP programme side. Unless you’re elite level. I’ll explain.
You’ll earn comp points when wagering for real money, with 1.5 comp points given for every £10 wagered. These can be converted to real money on a conversion rate of 150 points = £1, which means every £1,000 wagered earns enough points to redeem £1 in cash. I’m not exactly bowled over by that.
But 888 Casino also offers an exclusive VIP Casino Club. Though it’s only available to the most regular players and highest of high rollers. If you’re lucky enough to be invited, membership covers 888 as well as Vegas-inspired site 777. You’ll be treated to exciting hospitality events, first-class promos and a personal account manager.
The more you play the more chance you have of getting into VIP. But 888 are pretty tight-lipped about what climbing the ranks actually looks like.
Of the bonuses that are there at 888, the terms seem pretty fair. A typical wagering requirement seems to be 30x, which is on or a touch lower than average. What really helps is that they give you plenty of time to complete that. I’ve seen 30 days attached to most bonuses. Which is far more generous than the many sites offering 14 or even as little as 7 days.
There’s a minimum withdrawal of £10, which also seems pretty fair. They’ll actually let you withdraw even less than this, you just have to contact customer support direct.
There are around 2,000 titles in the library at 888 Casino. Given the scale of this brand, I guess I’d have expected more. But let’s not kid ourselves, that’s plenty to keep any of us busy. And one glance at the software providers present (more on that later) tells me they’ve gone for quality over quantity.
The site lobby is vibrant and enticing. There are tons of filtering options, so it’s easy to start discovering new games or find your favourites. It has specific sections for live casino, slots, new games, jackpots and casino games. Not to mention, perhaps most importantly of all, the 888 Exclusives.
The 888 Exclusives are games you’ll only find at 888. These span all categories including slots, live tables, video poker. If you come to play at 888, you’ve really got to check these out.
There’s a seriously solid selection of RNG table titles at 888. You’ll find them under the Casino Games tab, a little confusing but at least they’re all here in one place.
The lobby is well sorted, with side-scrolling menus for roulette and blackjack. There are tons of each of those games here, enough to rival a few of the best blackjack sites I’ve seen.
Then things get a little confusing. Down the page I’m given menus for scratch cards and live games, neither of which I asked for. But keep going and you’ll hit All Cards & Table Games, where you can browse the full selection.
To give you a few recommendations:
With over 1,000 quality slot games, 888 Casino serves up plenty of variety. Sure, that’s nowhere near as many as the top slot sites, but don’t count 888 out.
There’s rightly a separate Slots tab in the lobby, and it’s then sorted into handy categories like New and Games of the Week.
The filter options are super strong. You can narrow your search by volatility, features, jackpots, themes, and providers. Throw your usual tastes into this and 888 will quite literally pump suggestions back at you. This is a great place to discover new games.
Going off the numbers provided, Pragmatic and Games Global are the big players here. With secondary mentions to Playtech and Red Tiger. Those are names I know and whose games I love.
As for my game suggestions (and they’re all 888 Exclusive):
Head for the Live Casino tab and you won’t be disappointed. I make it that there are around 200 titles here, and they cover all the bases. Roulette, blackjack, baccarat, poker, and game shows. Those can be filtered for using crisp and clear icons at the top of the library. No rummaging needed.
Tables stream live from places as near as London and sad far as Spain and Italy. And you can take your pick from three viewpoints. Immersive, 3D, and Classic. The feeds are all high quality and the dealers as professional as you’d want. You can see the name of each dealer displayed on the game icon, so you can go back to those you vibed well with. All in all, I really enjoyed my live game experience here.
If you need somewhere to start, try:
Yes, it’s an exclusive. And by far the site’s most popular game. This vibrant video slot from Section8 has a maximum win of 5,000x your stake. But trigger the Titan Jackpot and there are three progressive jackpots you could land. Maybe it’s the novelty factor of being exclusive, but I really did take to this title.
888 doesn’t have an app. Rather, it has many apps.
There’s the 888 Casino app. Then there’s the 888 Poker app, with the focus entirely on poker titles. Then there’s 888ladies which, as I mentioned earlier, leans towards bingo and instant wins. There’s also an 888 Sport app if that’s your thing.
My verdict? This is a great development. It means each platform is super well optimised to what you’re wanting to do. The 888 Casino app with its combo of tables, slots, and mobile live casino games suited me best. And I couldn’t fault the experience. You’d expect it from a big name like this, but everything from navigation to game smoothness is excellent.
That said, you don’t need the app. I tested the 888 website in the browser of my iPhone 13 Pro and my iPad. Everything seemed to be optimised just right and much akin to the desktop experience. But why not download one of the top casino apps in the UK when it’s right there?
What 888 lacks in sheer quantity of games, it makes up for with its providers. I can’t find a thing to criticise about the selection here. All the big names you’d expect to see contribute, including the obvious Pragmatic Play and Games Global. But I was pleased to see those alongside some of the smaller, innovative entrants. The likes of Hacksaw and Yggdrasil.
As is often the case at big name sites, you can transfer money lots of ways at 888. Debit cards, a range of e-wallets, prepaid cards, and one of the two mobile payment systems are all accepted. Sorry Google Pay, this is Apple territory.
The minimum deposit for all methods is £10. Money should land in your account within 10 minutes.
The minimum for withdrawals is £10. But you’ll be allowed to withdraw less than this if you put the request direct to customer support. The site says they always process withdrawals their end within one working day. But from there, timescales vary.
They say that card withdrawals and Apple Pay can take up to six days, and all other methods up to three. I think they’re being a bit overcautious here. I would expect most to complete within 48 hours of the original request. That was the case for me.
I had no issues when signing up and depositing at 888. It was all pretty easy. Here’s what to do:
888 Casino ask for more info than most other sites when signing up. This is no bad thing. It shows the site takes its licensing obligations seriously. Make sure you provide accurate details, as you’ll need to verify your identity later on.
888 Casino is owned by Evoke plc. The brand has been part of the online gaming landscape since 1997. Today, its UK services are operated by 888 UK Limited, a company based in Gibraltar. It’s licensed and regulated by the UK Gambling Commission (UKGC) under account number 39028.
A lot of words, I know. But this is all the reassurance you need that this site is legit. There are strict terms to these licenses and if a casino didn’t keep to these, they’d soon lose accreditation. These terms include protecting money and data, as well as games being fair and truly random.
One of those licensing terms is Know Your Customer (KYC) obligations. These insist that gambling platforms know who their customers are. That they’re of legal age and aren’t up to anything dodgy. This means you’ll have to verify your identity eventually. Thankfully, it’s straightforward.
You can wait until the casino requests this of you. But don’t. You then won’t be able to deposit, play, or withdraw until it’s complete and approved. I strongly recommend you get this done ASAP.
In the cashier area, you’ll find a Verify ID tab. In there will be step by step instructions as to what to provide and how to send it. You may be asked for one or a combination of:
Once everything’s sent off, and so long as there’s no discrepancies, you’ll be approved within hours.
You can tell a lot from how a casino treats responsible gambling. Thankfully, 888 Casino does well here.
There’s a link to the responsible gambling page in the site’s footer. Here you can find links to external support organisations and explainers on the various tools 888 provide. Those tools include self-exclusion starting from six months upwards. There are also time-outs at from one day up to six weeks, plus daily, weekly, and monthly limits.
888 has a fully-fledged support centre attached to the site. Just as you’d expect from a big brand casino. Initially you’re directed down funnels that categorise your issue, ultimately leading to the relevant FAQs area. I often dunk on FAQs, but the answers here are more helpful than usual.
Of course, what you’ll probably want is to speak to someone. There’s a live chat available if you click the ? icon in the top right corner. You’ll be asked to outline your issue to a chatbot. But don’t worry, real people are on hand a bit further down the line. And they’re responsive and helpful.
There is a form available for email contact, too. But good luck finding it. I can’t remember how I did.
888 Casino has a big rep to live up to. And for the most part, it does.
Perhaps having dedicated sites for sport, poker, bingo (and ladies?) allows 888 Casino to focus on the best online casino experience possible. There’s no denying the site and app look great on all devices. The games run smooth and the selection they’ve put together is clear quality.
I’ve also got to hand out points for where it matters. Customer support? Good. Payments? All reasonable. Responsible Gambling? Taken seriously.
There are a few lows, though. It’s pretty clear 888 don’t care much for bonuses. And the ol’ comp points are, to be frank, a waste of time.
But those are minor in the grand scheme. 888 is seriously solid.
The 888 Exclusive games. Sites that boast exclusives usually mean a couple of branded slots and the odd blackjack table. The exclusives here make up a whole lobby of their own!
888 Casino is a widely known and trusted online gambling site and is fully regulated. It holds a licence with the UK Gambling Commission. Plus its games are tested for fairness by independent agencies. It’s part of the Evoke group, one of the most successful online gambling corporations in the world.
Yes. A site as sophisticated as 888 will use the latest in encryption technology. You can have confidence that your personal and financial details are safe. It’s a condition of any casino’s licence that it does everything possible to protect your information.
It can vary depending on your chosen payment method. The site say debit card withdrawals can take up to six days, while other options like e-wallets and Apple Pay more like three days max. But in my experience, these are pessimistic estimates. I got all my withdrawals through within 48 hours.
Yes, players from anywhere in the UK will be able to access 888 Casino with ease. That includes Northern Ireland. It’s available in select jurisdictions outside of the UK. But is unavailable in many. So you may not be able to access 888 when you travel.
888 Casino is based in Gibraltar, with its office address listed as 601-701 Europort, Gibraltar. It also has a registered address in Malta at Level 7, Tagliaferro Business Centre, 14, High Street, Sliema SLM 1549, Malta. These are common locations for UK online casinos to operate from.
