Making a side bet with £1 at a casino may not be everyone’s cup of tea and the odds of winning £46,000 as a result of said bet may be hard to believe for most of us.
That is exactly what one lucky Stockton man did on a works night out to the Grosvenor Casino in Stockton on Teesside.
During the night out with work colleagues, the man decided to have a go at the blackjack table. What was business as usual at the casino turned into a huge celebration as the lucky man beat the dealer when he turned over an ace and king of spades to win.
It happened to be the first time that the ace king progressive jackpot has been won at the casino.
Speaking about his jackpot win, the unidentified Stockton man said, “What a way to start the new year. I am absolutely ecstatic and still in disbelief.
“It was great to celebrate with my work colleagues—my win is now the talk of the office! The atmosphere on the night was amazing and this win has set 2025 off to an incredible start.”
The Grosvenor Casino in Stockton has had an £850,000 makeover on the entire ground floor, which includes gaming zones, a live gaming floor, bar and a restaurant.
Ajith Kuriakose, general manager of the casino destination, which is located at Chandlers Wharf Retail Park, said, “What a fantastic way to kick off the new year.
“There was an electric atmosphere on the casino floor, and we are thrilled for the winner. May this incredible luck continue for other players at our casino in 2025.”
Most of my career was spent in teaching including at one of the UK’s top private schools. I left London in 2000 and set up home in Wales raising four beautiful children. I enrolled at University where I studied Photography and film and gained a Degree and subsequently a Masters Degree. In 2014 I helped launch a new local newspaper and managed to get front and back page as well as 6 filler pages on a weekly basis. I saw that journalism was changing and was a pioneer of hyperlocal news in Wales. In 2017 I started one of the first 24/7 free independent news sites for Wales. Having taken that to a successful business model I was keen for a new challenge. Joining the company is exciting for me especially as it is a new role in Europe. I am keen to establish myself and help others to do the same.
