Since its establishment in 1895, City Tattersalls Club has remained a prominent entertainment figure in the Emerald City, Sydney. With over 20,000 members, the casino has cemented its place as one of the most prestigious and largest registered clubs in Australia.
Decorated with bars, restaurants, lounges, and even a fitness centre, the 4,200 sq/ft venue is a must-visit if you're in Sydney. As a gamer, you'll enjoy the best of Slots, Keno, and TABS. However, you can only get a premium gaming experience if you join the club's membership program split into tiers – Social, Gold, and Perpetual Gold.
The Pitt Street Clubhouse is currently closed for redevelopment. However, you can enjoy City Tattersalls Club’s other venues – The Castlereagh and The Barracks – in the Central Business District.
I've visited many land-based casinos in Australia, but I must say this is not like any other.
City Tattersalls Club is one of the oldest clubs in the Emerald City, Sydney. From my research, I discovered that the club was founded in 1895 by a group of 20 bookies. Besides the left and right turns, the casino is relatively easy to find. Driving to the location (194-204 Pitt Street, Sydney, New South Wales, 2000) from Sydney Airport took me approximately 21 minutes.
City Tattersalls Club offers exquisite accommodation for guests who want a complete vacation experience. I checked into one of the rooms, and the first thing that caught my eye was the comfy-looking bed. It wasn't hard to fall in love with my room the moment I laid my eyes on the beautiful handcrafted timber furniture, luxurious bathroom, and beautifully tiled floors. The hotel's room service was responsive and made me feel like royalty.
City Tattersalls Club doesn't have a traditional casino with live tables. However, there's a floor where you can play slots, Keno, TABS, and card games.
One standout feature of City Tattersalls Club is its sophisticated gaming system. Members must join a particular club to enjoy gameplay. The club offers three membership tiers – Social, Gold, and Perpetual Gold. Depending on your membership level, you’ll receive varying rewards and benefits. You can even receive discounts on food, drinks, and souvenirs purchased in the club.

City Tattersalls is all about hospitality and luxury. These traits are reflected in their staff, the services they provide, and available facilities.
The casino’s staff were friendly and helpful. I bombarded them with several questions about the facilities, which they answered without a hint of a frown. I wanted to play Roulette but was informed that table games are unavailable.
There aren't any dedicated smoking areas at City Tattersalls Club but visitors are free to smoke outside. I also noticed waste baskets outside the buildings useful for cigarette disposal.
Safety and security aren't an issue at City Tatts since the club is a notable establishment that prioritises its guests’ safety and convenience.
Several security cameras are in strategic positions to constantly monitor the environment. You can also find the casino's security personnel readily available in the event of an emergency.
The bars and restaurants are some of my favourite facilities in the club. Some of the exquisite restaurants and bars at the club are The Castlereagh, Omega Lounge, The Barracks, and Lime Bar. Each offers premium services, good food, and top-shelf drinks.
I enjoyed premium customer service throughout my stay at City Tattersalls Club. The restaurant waiters were remarkably polite and immediately walked up to my table with a smile to take my orders. Whether you're in a restaurant, a bar, or the gaming centre, you'll always find staff nearby willing and ready to assist you.
The best part is that you sometimes don't need to beckon at them before they come to your aid. One time, I was struggling to put on a slot machine, and before I could turn around to seek the attention of a staff member, there was one beside me already. It's almost like the staff members have their eyes on you at all times without making you feel uncomfortable.
City Tattersalls Club offers cashless opportunities for its members. For example, I was able to pay for my food using some of my membership points. Also, depending on your membership tiers, you can enjoy discounts as huge as 50% on food and drinks. You can also find ATMs around and within the building if you ever need to make a cash withdrawal.
Areas like the Castlereagh and The Barracks are wheelchair accessible and have convenient lifts. Furthermore, City Tattersalls Club staff are readily available to assist in using these facilities.
Despite not being a traditional casino, City Tattersalls Club hosts some of the most popular pokie machines which can be found in top land-based casinos.
City Tattersalls Club doesn't have a traditional casino. Also, I couldn't find table games like Roulette, Baccarat, Poker, or Blackjack, at the gaming halls. However, the club offers a selection of games, such as:
Here’s a detailed explanation of the games on offer at City Tattersalls Club.
There’s a 400-slot machine floor at City Tattersalls Club, where you may test your luck and experience the rush of spinning the reels. Whether you prefer colourful themes or adventure-themed reels, you’ll find your preference in the gaming hall.
If you're a Keno lover, you're in luck, as City Tattersalls Club offers a dedicated area where you can participate in this popular lottery-style game. Test your luck and see if the numbers align in your favour.
If you’re a horse racing and sports betting enthusiast, the TAB area allows you to place wagers on various events. TABs are available daily and at self-service kiosks in the Sports Bar on Sundays. You'll also find popular animated racing games on Trackside machines.
Despite not being a traditional casino, City Tattersalls Club hosts some of the most popular titles which can be found in top land-based casinos. The games are a blend of Australian favourites, which appealed especially to the locals, and several foreign titles to offer variety. I couldn't find a popular game at The Tattersalls Club, but players seem to favour the slot machines.
City Tattersalls Club prioritizes providing a top-notch gaming experience. Hence, the staff regularly maintain and update slot machines and other gaming equipment to ensure seamless gameplay. Most casinos with numerous slot machines offer outdated games, but this wasn't the case with City Tatts, as I enjoyed countless recent and top-tier slots.
Members of the club's staff were readily available to calm loud and overexcited gamers, preventing them from becoming a distraction to other players. Also, with over 400 slot machines available, the gaming area was seldom crowded, as there were enough pokies to go around.
Betting limits vary depending on the game you're playing. Some titles have high betting limits; others are either low or somewhere in between.

The City Tattersalls Club offers a wide range of benefits and incentives to its members. I found a multi-tiered rewards program called CT Rewards, which offers you exclusive access to a member's portal filled with unique deals, promotions, and bonuses.
As a member, you receive a membership card, which lets you claim points for using it. Your access to exclusive perks depends on how many points you accumulate. You can redeem these points for various incentives, including cash, gift cards, food, drink, and utility payments. Don't worry; redeeming points doesn't change your tier standing.
Although all members can access the Ruby Tier, amassing more points lets you climb higher to levels where you enjoy better perks. The highest membership rank – Black Status – requires you to earn more than 120,000+ points.
Tier status evaluations occur every three months in March, June, September, and December. As a member, you'll be informed as soon as your status changes as the club determines your tier status using points accumulated over a predetermined time frame.
Are you a lover of Trivia Night? The Omega Lounge hosts events once a week where you can win amazing prizes, such as a $50 bar tab. Every Thursday night, the team chooses three winners individually from a pool of 10 cases, with one holding a reward of at least $2,000. A lucky draw does this and the decorated box will be added together to create a jackpot if nobody chooses it.
The atmosphere in The City Tattersalls Club Casino gives you the impression that you're in a different city. It's almost as if the casino has its own ecosystem. There, you can't help but feel the fun vibe.
I don't think I came across an area in the casino that looks poorly maintained. The janitors have their eyes on every nook and cranny of the building. Waste bins are strategically positioned, making it tough to litter the place even if you tried to.
With the impressive number of restaurants in the club, there's just so much food to eat at City Tattersalls Club. The moment I saw The Castlereagh’s menu, I was tempted to try out almost every meal in it. I tried several dishes, but my favourite was the buttermilk chicken schnitzel, which felt heavenly when paired with a glass of red wine.
Also, I spent a considerable amount of time tasting food at The Barracks, Omega Lounge, Lime Bar, and Esperanto.
Despite being around for over a century, City Tattersalls Club hosts several attractive amenities that you can find in newly built casinos besides the gaming hall, restaurants, and bars. Some of the amenities I found at the entertainment spot are:
If you're interested in keeping fit and sporting a well-toned body, you'll love World Gym Castlereagh, which offers various fitness services at competitive rates.
Yes, City Tattersalls Club Casino has a functioning library hosting literary classics and the latest best sellers. You can find the library on the second floor of the building.
The casino also has several staff-only offices where the club's administrative functions occur.
This list would be incomplete without mentioning Boonoona Ski Lodge, located just a few meters from the Perisher ski tube terminal and chairlifts. The ski lodge boasts of competitive accommodation rates, including lunch, breakfast, plus a 3-course meal dinner and free transportation over the snow on arrival and departure days.
Parking isn't an issue, as Castlereagh offers convenient parking space. If you're seeking an alternative, I recommend The Hilton, which offers discounted parking for City Tatts club members. You can also opt for The Barracks or Wilson parking station near it.
City Tattersalls Club Casino identifies as a distinguished establishment offering a blend of rich history, modern amenities, and top-notch entertainment options. The Club's origin dates back to 1895, and to date, it offers diverse gaming opportunities, top-notch hotel accommodations, premium customer service, and attractive bonuses.
City Tattersalls Club provides a comprehensive experience for members and visitors. However, you need a membership plan to enjoy all benefits.

The City Tattersalls Club Casino is located at 194-204 Pitt Street, Sydney, New South Wales, which places it right at the heart of Sydney's Central Business District (CBD). It takes about 15 minutes to get there from the airport by car. Here are handy directions to open on your mobile: https://maps.app.goo.gl/JNntH8YNBBQaChki6.
