We have another series expansion, folks! This time, it’s the Masks of Fire series, which has increased its mask count and now introduces drums. The title of this expansion is 12 Masks of Fire Drums, and it follows on from the previous game of 9 Masks of Fire King Millions. This slot preceded 9 Masks of Fire Hyper Spins, which came after the very first slot in this series, 9 Masks of Fire.
Now you’re all up to date. Is 12 Masks of Fire Drums a fresh new start, or is this release just the same old actions and the same old features, just with more masks and, for some reason, drums? Well, there is only one way we are all going to understand this game from Gameburger Studios, and that is to play it. I take on the 12 Masks of Fire Drums inside my online casino as a real money game. The result of which helps me to detail the software and its volatility and RTP programming. The gaming features, design, and bonuses. Plus, the overall performance.
This review also comes with the free demo game, which you can experience unlimited times and with any mobile device.
The 12 Masks of Fire Drums slot by Gameburger comes with a very familiar setup. The backdrop is just a swirl of tribal patterning and a giant mask peering over the slot. To the left of the game is the ever-present prize chart. This stores all the values you can win based on the number of masks you land. These values change relative to the amount you bet.
The slot comes with the standard 5x3 layout. There is a total of 48 paylines to this game. However, this figure is reached when you activate the expanding reels. In its normal form, the 3x5 slot starts at 20 paylines. Also, above the 5th reel, there is a locked multiplier feature.
There really isn’t anything groundbreaking about this game. There are some minor tweaks to the previous slots, but I won’t be returning to this game or the series again.
The game looks to be of the same arrangement as the past slots in this series. You don’t need the experience of them to play this game, as it is very simple to get to grips with. When you load the slot game, set your betting value. You can click or tap on the Bet section to open the pricing list or use the up or down arrows to cycle through the values. The lowest bet can be placed at $0.20, and the max bet at $80. Remember, the value you choose affects the prizes you can win.
Once you have your bet ready, press the spin button. The reels will spin, and form wins when you land three or more symbols of the same design on the reels. The top symbol is the triple 7s, then the double 7s, the single 7, then any combination of 7s. The lower-valued symbols are the dollar, the bell, the BAR, and the cherry.
Wins can also be formed by landing the Epic Strike symbol, which is the golden mask. You need 3 to 12 of these to land, and your prize is denoted by the chart to the left of the slot. The gameplay is all about trying to land these symbols each time you press the spin button. Once you do that, it’s entirely down to fate if you win or lose.
During the gameplay of 12 Masks of Fire Drums, opportunities can land that trigger special features and bonuses.
Wild Symbols: The wilds in this game can help you trigger the Epic Strike Bonus.
Epic Strike Bonus: Landing three or more mask symbols returns the chance of winning a cash prize. However, you might also trigger the free spins bonus.
Rising Rewards: This is the locked multiplier feature that is used within the free spins bonus game. When you land Free Spin symbols on the 2nd and 3rd reels, this will then increase the locked multiplier feature by a factor of x1. It can climb up to a factor of x10, and the value is then added to all wins in the free spins game.
Free Spins Bonus: Three free spin symbols unlock the game when they land on reels 4, 3, and 2. You will start with three free spins. During the round Collect symbols feature (drum), by collecting these, you can climb levels, which are an expansion of the reels. The expansion happens one row at a time and will also rest the spin counter back to three. There are eight levels to unlock (increasing the paylines to 48), and there are also extra spin symbols to land to increase the counter.
Whilst the original game was good, I find that 12 Masks of Fire Drums is uninspired. If you’ve played the original game or games along with the 9 Pots of Gold series, then the appetite for more of the same dwindles fast.
I loaded 12 Masks of Fire Drums and set my bet at only $1 per spin. I also set the game to 50 auto spins. In the first ten spins, I won $2.40, and it’s noticeable that many Wild symbols are landing to help trigger the Epic Strike feature. A Big Win lands on spin 29 as I strike five triple 7s, returning a win of $25. With all 50 spins played, I wasn’t able to win enough to cash out.
The 12 Masks of Fire Drums by Gameburger comes with high volatility programming and an RTP calculation of 96.00%. The maximum jackpot to be won is relative to the value you bet at. Players will win 3,000 times the amount they bet. If betting at the highest value, which is $80, then the max jackpot is $240,000, which is okay value for money when compared to other casino games in the market.
There really isn’t anything groundbreaking about this game. There are some minor tweaks to the previous slots, but I won’t be returning to this game or the series again. Hard to understand why Gameburger thought that this was a needed game idea.
