Andvari The Golden Fish is a Foxium/Games Global slot and a sequel to Andvari: The Magic Ring. The slot draws inspiration from Norse mythology. In it, Andvari is a dwarf who lives under a waterfall. He has a magic ring – Andvaranaut – that allows him to turn into a pike and escape danger. The first slot focused on the ring and its features, while this one focuses on Andvari’s pike-transforming ability.

Unlike its predecessor, this one has 40 paylines instead of 1,024 ways to win. Volatility is set to medium, and the slot has some distinct features that involve coin and symbol collections. Its main features are expanding symbols, fully wild reels, and free spins, all of which can transform regular wins into golden ones.

The slot’s easy to play and has quite a charm. The dwarf himself is the expanding wild who springs into action to magically increase your wins. It’s an entirely different side to Norse slots that I haven’t seen very often. Instead of Loki, Odin, and Thor, you get to learn another story – one with excellent winning potential.

One of the things I love about this slot is how fantastic it looks. It’s not uncommon for Foxium’s and Games Global slots to look great, and this one falls into that category. The slot looks great from a visual perspective. Andvari, the dwarf, is the main star, with a braided beard and all. 

He follows the action right above the jackpots in a boat with golden fish. Andvari also shines as the expanding wild, a feature which I’ll cover more of below. Symbols include the magical ring, potions, runes, a scroll, and a boat anchor. A set of card royals can be seen, too.

The visuals are accompanied by great audio and sound effects, which amplify the experience.

You need to set a bet to start playing the Andvari The Golden Fish online slot at the best real money online casino. The betting range goes from 20c to $50 per spin. You need three or more matching symbols on a line for a win. Wilds can jump in to link wins together by substituting for any other symbol except the bonus. When that happens, it’s collected in Andvari’s boat in the top left corner. Every time you catch a golden fish, there’s a chance of triggering the Bubble Bang bonus.

Three chests on reels 2, 3, and 4 award 12 free spins. During the free spins round, all wild reels remain active until the end. There’s a free spins boost mode that offers higher wins. The boosted free spins round is triggered by three boosted scatters. These spins start with at least a pair of fully wild reels. There’s also a multiplier wheel you spin before the round begins, where you can win an always-on multiplier from x2 to x10.

I’ve had loads of fun with the Andvari The Golden Fish slot. I have to say that I wasn’t familiar with this part of Norse mythology, and it pleasantly surprised me. While the base game without the wilds is straightforward, it can change in an instant if you activate several wild reels. In my experience, they don’t come that often. I needed over 20 spins to get my first wild reel, but it paid off.

Instead of waiting for the bonus round, I bought it for 65x. It was one of the most impressive slot bonus experiences of all time. I had a pair of wild reels halfway through and got four of them for the last four spins. This resulted in a massive 253x win, which justified paying for the bonus round.

Andvari The Golden Fish is a medium variance slot with an RTP figure of 96.24%. If you buy the bonus round, it shoots up to 96.37%. The maximum win is 5,000x the bet.

If you’re looking for a fun and rewarding slot to play, the second Andvari Foxium release is a spot-on pick. I was impressed with the wild reel feature and the fact they stay on the reels for four instead of one spin. The bonus round exceeded my expectations, and it was all thanks to the wild reels.
