Whilst Anubis Rising sounds like a medical condition, it is, in fact, a casino slot game released by Blueprint Gaming. Anubis is an Egyptian god and is considered to be evil. The god is represented by the jackal which is seen as a sign of death. On this positive note, I raise the question, will Anubis Rising bore players to death or does it inject players with a life-saving cash cure?
In this review, I share my experience of the game, which I play for real money. I also discuss the gaming features, covering bonuses, the RTP, the jackpot, and volatility. As with all the free slot game reviews at Casinos.com, you can access the free-to-play demo of Anubis Rising. If you like playing the game, then allow Casinos.com to guide you to slot casinos where you can play Anubis Rising for real money.
Anubis Rising is an Egyptian-themed slot, which has been explored by Blueprint Gaming many times. The Eye of Horus slot is undoubtedly the most popular of these slots.
Now, the surprising thing about the design of Anubis Rising is just how basic it is. The overall aesthetics of this game are as simple as you could make a game, which isn’t appealing in the slightest. The slot is within some room lit by two fires, and that’s all there is to describe because there is nothing else but stone. Stone columns, stone walls, and a stone floor.
The slot comes with a classic 3-row and 5-reel layout, which provides players with 10 paylines. So far, the game isn’t filling me with hope.
It’s hard to understand what Blueprint Gaming was trying to accomplish with this game. Of all the online slot games in this Egyptian genre, Anubis Rising is possibly the worst I have experienced. The gameplay is about as compelling as its bland design. I have had hangovers that were more fun than this game.
You’ll find Anubis Rising inside all the top casinos online. Make your deposit, load the game, and choose the value to bet per spin played. Select the coin stack icon to reveal all the price options, which range from $0.10 per spin and climb up to a reasonable max bet of $50. With your choice made, press the spin button to the right of the reels to begin spinning them.
To land a win, you need 3, 4, or 5 matching symbols to land on one of the 10 paylines, in the order from left to right. The symbols carry different values. The hieroglyphs are the higher-valued symbols, while the letters A, K, Q, and J are the lower-valued symbols. The payline patterns can be found on the paytable within the menu tab. The paytable also teaches you about the symbol values, what bonuses are available, and the overall game rules.
These are the basics of play. Nothing more is required of you as a player. You press the spin button and just hope the right symbols land to bring about a big win.
Now, there is a little more to this game than just the basic gaming standard. Anubis Rising possesses some special features and bonus rounds.
Wild Symbols: All Wilds can expand to engulf the full reel, which maximizes the possibility of hitting more wins.
Free Spins: The game’s bonus symbol, aka the scatter symbol, is a giant pyramid. Land 3 or more of this Pyramid scatter symbol, and you will unlock 12 free spins and a cash payout. During this bonus game of free spins, landing Wilds will reward you with additional free spins. Landing the Super Wilds returns even more free spins to play with. The bonus game also comes with upgrade powers. There are 5 levels to this upgraded power, and it essentially transforms the hieroglyph symbols to one that is next in the price ranking. The fan becomes the cross, and the cross becomes the scarab, and so on.
Pick a Bonus: Now, before you play any of the bonus games, there is a mini-game feature to play. This game will determine which upgrades will be featured at the start of play. This could be the symbol upgrade, or it could be an upgrade of Wilds to Super Wilds. There is also an upgrade that increases the number of Wilds. There is a Gold Anubis upgrade that supplies an x10 multiplier. Lastly, there is a free spins upgrade that can award 2 to 5 more free spins.
I’m not big on Egyptian-themed slots, but I am a sucker for slot games made by Blueprint Gaming. That said, I’m not holding out too much hope for this game. I loaded Anubis Rising in my casino and played 50 spins at $2 per spin. On several occasions, I landed the Super Wilds, but nothing came of them. It wasn’t until my 41st spin that I won, and this was a $20 payout. I landed a further $4.50, which was the result of my 50 spins. A very mute experience and one of the worst that I have ever had with a slot game by Blueprint Gaming. I won’t be playing Anubis Rising again any time soon.
The jackpot of Anubis Rising is relative to what you are betting per spin. The payout is 5,000 times your wager. This means players betting at a max bet of $50 per spin could potentially win $250,000. The RTP of the game is scored at 95% and the volatility setting comes in at high, which is why my experience of the game was rubbish.
It’s hard to understand what Blueprint Gaming was trying to accomplish with this game. Of all the online slot games in this Ancient Egypt slots genre, Anubis Rising is possibly the worst I have experienced. The gameplay is about as compelling as its bland design. I have had hangovers that were more fun than this game.
Would I recommend it? No. What I would suggest is that you try any of these alternatives:
April Fury and the Chamber of Scarabs by Betsoft.
Rich Wilde and the Amulet of Dead by Play’n GO.
