You know that saying “plenty more fish in the sea?” Well I’m beginning to think it's about the Big Bass series that is coming out of the Pragmatic Play studios. The release of Big Bass Floats My Boat is now the 13th slot game in this long-running series featured at top slot sites.
In this slot review for Big Bass Floats My Boat, I will be looking at the gameplay, the software performance, in-play features, and payout potential. It won’t be a full comparison of this game to the others in the Big Bass series because, frankly, I’m too lazy to go through 12 games and compare the finite details. However, at the end of this review, I will reveal if this game is a good catch or if the series has now gone off.
So, like all other Big Bass slots, Big Bass Floats My Boat takes place out on the open seas. Ever present is the same fisherman and his trawler. The layout of this particular slot is 3x5 and is submerged in the water where fish can be seen swimming about.
To the left of the five reels is the large fisherman’s net, the same length as a reel. This will move along with the boat during the game. So, you will be entertained by the animation embedded in the game.
The game's symbols cover what you might expect of a nautical-themed slot machine. You have the fisherman's tackle, dragonfly, boat, and fishing rod as the higher-valued symbols. And the lower-valued ones are A, K, Q, J, and 10. Other featured symbols are the Wild (fisherman), the Bonus Scatter (Bass), and the Money symbols, which are a mix of fish with money values on them—these range from 0.2x up to 50x your bet amount.
You know that saying “plenty more fish in the sea?” Well, I’m beginning to think it's about the Big Bass series that is coming out of the Pragmatic Play studios.
First, you don’t need to have played the previous 12 Big Bass slot games to understand what is going on with Big Bass Floats My Boat or how it plays. Like any slot, the rules are simple, and winning is in the hands of lady luck.
When you load the slot, be sure to check the default value is to your liking. It will be set at $2 per spin but can be adjusted. The price of playing starts at $0.10, and the max you can bet is a whopping $250 per spin ($350 with Ante Bet). When you decide on the cost factor, you begin the game by pressing the spin button.
Big Bass Floats My Boat comes with ten paylines, and to form a win on any of these paylines, you need to match three or more of the same symbol, though two or more if it’s the boat symbol. The ten payline patterns can be seen in the game’s paytable. Press the Information icon to reveal the paytable, which contains the symbol values and bonus feature information.
During play, you might gather wins via the Money symbols, and these can be individual amounts or collective amounts that are then met with a multiplier value between x2 and x50. Also, it should be mentioned that if you land two scatter symbols, the reels will sometimes nudge down to give you another chance to hit a third scatter.
The Big Bass Floats My Boat slot comes with three main features.
Free Spins Bonus Round: If you land three, four, or five scatter symbols, you unlock the free spins bonus. Relative to the number of symbols, you will either win 10, 15, or 20 bonus spins. Additional spins can be awarded during the bonus round. Some special features also appear in this game, such as the introduction of an Octopus that can change symbols to scatter. During play, you will collect those values and show if any Money symbols appear with the Wild symbol. The bonus round also includes a multiplier feature (see top of reels), which can increase by x1 when Money symbols land. Every fourth fisherman Wild symbol that is collected reactivates the game and gives you ten free spins to play with.
Ante Bet: This feature is a Bet Multiplier, which, in short, gives players a higher chance of landing a bonus feature. The cost of this is 10x the original bet value.
Bonus Buy: For a cost that is 100x your wager value, you can bypass the main game and directly head into the bonus round with three to five scatters picked at random. Pay 300x the wager, and you can opt for a super free spins bonus; with this, you can get a re-trigger of the bonus with ten more free spins awarded, with only three landed wild symbols.
I played the first three Big Bass games made by Pragmatic Play but soon gave up on the rest because they didn’t offer anything truly diverse in their gameplay performance. I’m a firm believer in quitting while you’re ahead, but this series keeps going and going.
I really had no interest in playing this game for real money, so my experience was purely within the demo mode. The same as you find embedded into this review. I set the spin price at $2, which is my standard value, and set autoplay on 50 spins. I landed the ten free spins bonus round on my 24th spin. During the bonus round, I landed huge wins and triggered the ten free spins feature three times. After a total of 40 free spins in the bonus round, I landed a colossal $564.80.
With 11 spins left, I hit bonus again, with ten free spins. This time, I wasn’t as successful, only winning $20.00. After playing my 50 auto spins, I was massively up on the game by $535.80.
Given my experience, I was stunned to learn this game is embedded with a high volatility setting. This should be making it harder to land wins, let alone bonus rounds. The RTP of Big Bass Floats My Boat comes in at 96.07%.
The max payout is 5,000x your wagering value. If you were to bet at $375 per spin, this means you could potentially land a jackpot payout of $1,875,000.
Despite the enjoyable experience of playing Big Bass Floats My Boat, it’s not a game that gets my juices flowing, so to speak. If you are aware of the series, then you will unquestionably like this new installment. This is because there are about 5 or 6 games in the series that are awful.
If all the Big Bass stuff is new to you, then you can play all the other games for free at Casinos.com or for real money and trusted online casinos. I recommend these three as the best ones so far: Big Bass Amazon Xtreme, Big Bass Bonanza: Hold & Spinner Megaways, and Big Bass Bonanza: Keeping it Reel.
