Blast the Bass Slot Review

Fishing-themed slots are a phenomenon in the slot industry. The majority follow the example set by Big Bass Bonanza, focusing on a collection feature rather than trying new things out. And they’re still loads of fun as players take the role of a fisherman hungry for success. Belatra Games may be late to the party, but it arrives stylishly with Blast the Bass.

The slot has a standard setup and runs on a highly volatile math model with 20 fixed paylines. This time, the fisherman isn’t playing around. Instead of a fishing rod, he has dynamite, ready to blast the bass down in the hole.

As usual, the fisherman is the wild, collecting all the sea creatures you see on the reels. It’s not just bass—crabs, octopuses, sharks, and other sea inhabitants are within the blast range. Read my Blast the Bass review below and try the fishing bonanza at the top online casinos.

Blast the Bass Slot Layout, Theme, and Setup

Blast the Bass from Belatra is one of the best-looking fishing-themed slots I’ve seen. The graphics are pretty sharp, and so is the audio, with a fitting soundtrack and audio effects taking over the action as it speeds up.

Symbols include an octopus, a bucket of fish, a shark, some lures, the fisherman wild, and your regular card royals. What I loved is how the card royals fit into the theme. They’re attached to fishing hooks near the top, which shows that the developer put a lot of effort into making everything fit into the theme visually.

The action takes place somewhere on a fishing boat, with the fisherman standing right next to the reels. A few other boats can be seen in the background. The animated waters give the right vibes, so avoiding playing if you’re seasick is best.

Random features in the base game can spice things up from the beginning, so if you’re asking me if Blast the Bass is worth a try, it’s a definite yes.

How to Play the Blast the Bass Slot

Playing the Blast the Bass online slot is easy. You’ll need to choose a bet first—the options range from 20c to $250 per spin. Hit the spin button when ready and start the fishing adventure.

Three or more symbols are required to win across one of the 20 paylines. The game is played on an enormous 5x4 reel set with a total of 20 symbols in play.

The fisherman wild can replace any symbol in a winning combination. It also nabs any fish symbols with values, adding their winnings to itself before paying. The credit fish have values between 2x and 1,000x.

Occasionally, the fisherman may try his luck to get the biggest bass with TNT. This results in fish rain, which (obviously) causes fish to rain down on the reels. The winnings are summed up after the wild collects the values.

Sometimes, fish coins can appear with a higher coefficient, such as x10. They begin moving down on the reels at this point, with their values going up (maximum of 100x) per spin. To reach that number, the coin fish must drop down to the bottom.

Blast the Bass Slot Free Spins, Bonus Features & Bonus Buy

Three TNT scatters on the reels award ten free spins. If you’re lucky enough to land the bonus with four scatters, you get a booster of ten free spins with an x2 multiplier. You activate the so-called hot mode with five scatters, which adds another booster—ten free spins with an x3 multiplier.

These boosters are active in the panel above the reels. Every dropped wild during the bonus occupies a slot on said panel. The first booster you can get in the bonus rounds—providing it’s activated—is ten more spins with an x2 multiplier. For this option, you need to collect four wilds. For any booster beyond the fifth, you’ll need an additional wild.

These boosters make the bonus round so exciting. They’re launched after the current free spins are played. There are eight multiplies in total, with a maximum multiplier of x100. Landing wilds doesn’t happen that often, so it kind of balances out the gameplay in the bonus.

You can buy any of the available specials for a price. You can also pay 25% more per spin to increase your chances of reaching the bonus round, Hot Mode included.

My Experience Playing the Blast the Bass Slot for Real Money

I started my fishing journey with a bet of $1, and from the beginning, Blast the Bass looked pretty much like Big Bass Bonanza. Despite the different looks, the gameplay features are pretty similar. Which doesn’t make it any less exciting.

Wild wins in the base game delivered solid returns during my first 20 spins. I hit one 8x win and smaller ones, but did so frequently thanks to the cash fish. I couldn’t get to the bonus round naturally, but I didn’t use the buy bonus feature either. Instead, I decided to activate the extra bet, which resulted in a four-scatter trigger around 50 spins in.

I managed to get to the first booster after landing a total of four wilds. The ten extra spins with a doubling multiplier played after the first set of free games. That was as far as I could reach, but I still walked out with an 84x win, which was solid.

Blast the Bass Slot Verdict and Recommended Games

Blast the Bass doesn’t blast the fishing slot competition with innovation, but it’s still fun to play. More importantly, the slot does a great job at copying familiar features, with boosters in the bonus round that can take your wins up high. Random features in the base game can spice things up from the beginning, so if you’re asking me if Blast the Bass is worth a try, it’s a definite yes.

Big Bass Bonanza is the first alternative that springs to mind. Any of its sequels and spin-offs are a good fit, too, just like Blueprint Gaming’s Fishin’ Frenzy series. All of these slots are available at the top casino sites.
