Cash Strike is another Octoplay slot that gives players a nostalgic experience with its vintage-inspired design and timeless symbols and features.
The game seems simple enough, and one might think that it’s just another boring classic slot, but wait until you trigger the free spins game where the symbols turn to gold, and diamond-coated crowns award multipliers of up to 10x.
I played the Cash Strike slot for real money, and I’m here to tell you about my experience discovering its exciting features. Once you read my review and try the game in demo mode, you will hopefully have enough info to decide whether to pursue it for real at one of our recommended top online casinos. Read on!
Cash Strike gives off a nostalgic feel with symbols typically seen adorning slot machines of the past. The artwork and animations are secondary, with little going on in the background. The 5x4 reel layout contains low-paying card marks 10, J, Q, K, and A, along with high-paying BAR, star, clover, and bell symbols.
To win, you must match a minimum of three low-paying symbols or at least two high-paying ones across one of the 20 fixed paylines.
Its golden-era charm will appeal to players who like keeping things simple, while the bonus round produces just enough buzz to keep the game from becoming stale.
Octoplay uses a clear and minimalist control panel for all its games, with buttons located in the bottom right corner.
On the left of the big Spin button is the golden Buy Feature option, which I’ll explain in more detail later. Clicking the Stake button will open the betting options ranging from $0.10 to $500. This upper limit makes Cash Strike a high-roller game, as video slots rarely accept bets this big.
The autoplay function has options for 20, 50, 100, 200, and 500 uninterrupted spins, along with optional settings for when you want the function to stop. The three-line button opens the game’s settings and rulebook, where you can turn on Fast Play, expand the game to fullscreen, and turn off the sound.
The Cash Strike slot bonus game unlocks once you land three free spins symbols on the same play. You initially get 10 free spins, with the chance to earn 10 more in case three scatters show up during the round itself.
Before the bonus game begins, one symbol will be randomly selected to represent the Golden Cash symbol, with the value of each Golden Cash corresponding to the chosen symbol’s rank in the base game.
Whenever two Golden Cash symbols appear in one of the free spins, they will expand to cover their respective reels, and all their combined values will be collected. If a crown appears during the expansion feature, it will either double the total prize or add a 5x or 10x multiplier to each Golden Cash symbol.
Considering that Cash Strike is a low-volatility game, I immediately used the Buy Feature option and tried generating some big wins instead of hoping to trigger the feature at random.
My bet was $1, so the cost of purchasing the free spins round was $100. I got the BAR symbol to represent the Golden Symbol during the round with a cash prize value of $4. It turned out that purchasing the feature was a good move. I almost immediately won 10 extra spins and ended the round with $130 in total wins, a cool $30 profit in just a couple of minutes of playing time.
I decided not to test my luck with repurchasing the feature, so I played spin by spin for the next few minutes and was lucky enough to trigger the free spins round again. I again got BAR as the Golden Symbol, and while I only won $40 this time around, it brought my total profits for the session to around $45.
I then increased my stake to $2 and played a few dozen more spins, but nothing significant happened. I quit while ahead and saved my marginal profits for testing out other games.
Cash Strike doesn’t have an impressive RTP. The game's theoretical return based on 100 million spins is only 95.72%, which is below the industry average. This number goes up when you use the Buy Feature option, but only to 95.80%.
The slot has relatively low volatility, and while its max bet limit is quite high, the same can’t be said for the max win, which comes in at a modest 1,934x.
I consider Cash Strike an average classic slot. Its golden-era charm will appeal to players who like keeping things simple, while the bonus round produces just enough buzz to keep the game from becoming stale.
The title is quite similar to Coins & Diamonds: Hold & Win and a few other vintage-themed Octoplay releases, while they all draw inspiration from games like IGT’s Double Diamond and Play’n GO’s Fire Joker.
