Hacksaw Gaming has now officially joined the dragon genre following the release of Dragon’s Domain. Now, the game looks mighty kick-ass, but looks are only part of the pleasures of playing online slots. For this review, I will have to don my armor and do battle with the slot head-to-head. I play Dragon’s Domain for real money and share with you details about the design, RTP, programming, volatility, bonus features, and possible jackpot.
This Dragon’s Domain slot review also contains the official free demo of the game. This is something you can access on an iOS or Android mobile device. Access is unlimited, and it will help you to know if Dragon’s Domain is a casino game that you’ll want to play for real money.
Let’s see if this slot has fire in the belly or if it’s just a load of hot air.
The Dragon’s Domain slot game comes with some familiar Hacksaw Gaming design elements. The animation is incredible yet simplified. In the backdrop, you have flying dragons over a destroyed building. To the left of the game board is a red dragon guarding its hoard of gold coins. To the right stands a blue knight, ready to unleash a powerful attack.
The two-character dynamic is a Hacksaw Gaming trademark. For the most part, they do nothing, but we will find out if the animation goes beyond just being. The slot comes in a 5-row, 6-reel setup with a Ways to Win mechanism, an avalanche setup, and Scatter Pays.
Given some recently poor releases from Hacksaw Gaming, I think this is one of their best. The game has good design and sound. The features enhance the gameplay, and there are bonus rounds to enjoy.
First, load the game from a reputable and licensed casino online. Once up and running, set your bet, which is paid per spin. The minimum bet is $0.10 and climbs to a value of $100. To adjust the pricing, select the – or + buttons to navigate through the bet values. Once selected, press the spin button to start the game.
The reels of this game do not spin like a regular slot. The avalanche feature makes the symbols drop off and back onto the reels from above. As this is a Scatter Pays game, winning is about getting eight or more symbols on the reels. These symbols don’t even have to be on adjacent reels, like with most other games set up like Dragon’s Domain.
The payout increases with the number of symbols on the reels. The colorized symbols like the blue knight, the treasure chest, the ring, and the cup are some of the higher-earning symbols. All the grey symbols, like the skull, shield, axe, and helmet, are lower-valued.
When a win is formed, the symbols are removed from the reels, and new symbols are added to the game. This can produce new wins, and the motion of remove and replace can be never-ending – all from one spin.
Now, to play Dragon’s Domain, all you do is press the spin button until you run out of disposable income or win enough to decide to quit. During play, you might land the right symbols to trigger special features and bonuses. These can increase your chances of winning and enhance the gaming experience.
Charred Land: Any burnt and charred symbols are Wild Multipliers with three charges on them. The charges will decrease for each win the symbol is part of. This results in increases in the multiplier value. The multiplier values range from x2 to x10.
Dragon Fire and Dragon Symbols: Dragons will form symbols that can unleash fire over the reels. It will create a cross pattern from where it lands, and when this happens, all symbols are removed that come into contact with it. Any Charred symbols become recharged to their fill three charges. The dragon can appear red and gold. The gold dragon will carry x2, x3, x4, x5, and x10 multipliers. The multiplier can be multiplied by hitting a Charred symbol.
Dragon’s Lair Bonus: Trigger the bonus game by landing three scatter symbols (FS) and be awarded ten free spins. During the bonus round, all charred symbols are sticky for as long as their charges remain. Additional free spins can be won during the bonus round.
Hatchery Bonus Game: Triggered by four FS symbols, this round rewards ten free spins. During play, there are non-paying symbols, such as blank blocks or broken dragon eggshells. The shell symbols will convert to cash when hit by Dragon Fire.
There are also complete egg symbols in color. The green dragon eggs can produce wins up to 10x, the red ones up to 40x, and the golden eggs 200x. Should these eggs be hit by Dragon Fire, they will also be multiplied. Additional spins can also be won.
Bonus Buy: Gain access to the bonus game by paying for it. Dragon’s Lair costs 100x your bet, with Hatchery costing 200x the bet. You can also buy the Charred features for 50x your bet.
This Hacksaw Gaming slot seems to have more meat on its bones than its other similarly designed games. I loaded it up and set my bet to play $2 spins. I also played 50 spins in the autoplay mode. The first win comes with my fourth spin and comes in at $1.40. Soon after, the Dragon Fire triggers and aids in further winnings. On spin 24, a big win of $24.90 drops, but so far, it has been more calmness than chaos. Several wins land, and several more Dragon Fire symbols impact the game, but I don't win enough at the end of my 50 spins to cash out.
Dragon’s Domain is programmed with a medium volatility setting, which is possibly why I got some good wins. The RTP is average at 96.31%. The max win is 10,000 times the player’s bet. Since the max bet is $100, the jackpot would be $1,000,000.
Given some recently poor releases from Hacksaw Gaming, I think this is one of their best. The game has good design and sound. The features enhance the gameplay, and there are bonus rounds to enjoy. It’s not their worst game, and there are worse dragon-themed slots out there in the market. If you want some other good dragon games, then I recommend the following:
