Evil Eyes Slot Review

Evil has many faces. We had nightmares of the bogeyman and the creatures under the bed in our youth. In our teens, it was the malevolent force that would chase us up the stairs in the dark. Into our adulthood phases of life, we learn the true horrors. Those of the IRS taxman and unaffordable healthcare. Alas, no software developer has yet been brave enough to face these adult horrors, so we have to make do with the fake stuff.

Evil Eyes by Hacksaw Gaming seems to delve into the lore of the Wendigo, but is it just for show, or does the game have a working concept? I will play Evil Eyes in its real money format to get a complete insight into how the game performs, plays, and pays. I will share my experience, the software settings, bonus features, and my verdict on whether or not Evil Eyes is a horror of a game or gore-iously good.

As with many of the free slot games hosted by Casinos.com, you can play Evil Eyes in its free-to-play demo mode.

Evil Eyes Slot Layout, Theme & Setup

Hacksaw Gaming has distinct attributes when it comes to gaming design. Let’s do the checklist:

  1. Minimal atmospheric sound
  2. A gaming character (or two) beside the slot
  3. Two color tones

With the checks complete, I can confirm we have all those things.

The game is a chorus of blues and greys; the character feature is the Wendigo. The slot layout presents five reels and five rows, forming 3,125 ways to win. The game also comes with an avalanche mechanism, so the symbols drop into the rows and reels rather than have them spinning.

From a design perspective, I think Hacksaw Gaming could do more, but I think this is true of all their games.

How to Play Evil Eyes Slot

First, load the game from a reputable gambling site. Set your bets by selecting the - or + buttons and go through the prices that range from $0.10 to $100 per spin.

With your bet selected, you can begin to play Evil Eyes for real money payouts. Press the spin button to start ‘dropping’ the symbols. As the game comes with a Ways to Win mechanism, you are looking to land matching symbols across adjacent reels from left to right. The symbols paying out the higher returns are the Wendigo, the spider, the wolf, the crow, and the corpse. The lower-valued symbols are the greyed-out blocks. The images are a little unclear, but they are the cross-bones, butterfly, handprint, heart, and skull.

The more matching symbols that align, the greater the return, and of course, the more you bet, the higher the win will be. This is the core rule of play. You will ‘spin’ the reels and hope to make a winning outcome. However, there is more to this game, and like all Hacksaw Gaming slots, there are features and bonus rounds to activate.

Evil Eyes Slot Free Spins, Bonus Features & Bonus Buy

  • The Evil Eye: Should this symbol of an eyeball land under a winning symbol, it will activate the Evil Spread feature. Firstly, the Evil Eye will highlight all the symbols that are part of the win, and then it will rotate to point down or right, which is where the Evil Spread will take place. The Evil Spread extends the win to the boundary of the slot. If the spread goes over the Evil Eye, this symbol will change to be part of the expanded win. If not, then the Evil Spread will trigger again for an even larger win.
  • Wicked Night: Unlock the bonus feature with three FS symbols. When the bonus round loads, you will play with non-paying symbols, multiplier scatter symbols, and Evil Eye symbols. For this round, you want to land the Evil Eye symbols because when they gaze in the direction of a multiplier symbol, its value joins the multiplier counter above the reel.
  • You will win a further multiplier if two Evil Eyes gaze at each other. The round comes with three lives, which reset when the Evil Eye collects a multiplier. The values of these multipliers will range between x1 and x100. The Evil Eye multipliers go from x2 to x10.
  • Wicked Epic Drop: This feature triggers at random points in play at the start of a spin. The game will go through a transformation that becomes the Wicked Epic Drop. You will play this round with just one spin. With this single spin, you will have at least three Evil Eyes and four multiplier symbols. You will win at least one of the multipliers during this feature game.
  • The Graveyard: Land four scatter FS symbols, and you will get ten free spins. In this bonus game, any wins formed by low-paying symbols and spread by the Evil Eye are eliminated from the rest of the game. You can win more free spins by landing two or more FS symbols on the reels.
  • Bonus Buy: Players can pay for feature enhancements or access to bonus games. For example, if you wanted to skip the base game and directly play the Wicked Night bonus, it would cost you 100 times the bet value. Access to the Graveyard Bonus would be 200 times the bet value.

My Experience Playing Evil Eyes Slot for Real Money

I like Hacksaw Gaming as a developer, and one intrigued me. Plus, of all the slot genres available, horror is one of the best when it comes to casino games.

I loaded Evil Eyes with my bet set to $2 a spin, and I played 50 spins set with the auto-play mode feature. It only took two spins to land my first win. Then, on spin twelve, I experienced the Evil Eye. This landed a $54.80 win. I could have cashed out $22 but persisted with the game. Several spins passed with nothing landing, but with eighteen spins left, the Evil Eye landed again and won me $54. It’s at this point I stop playing and cash out $51.40.

I’d seen enough to know that for a game with high volatility, you take what you can, and I will return to this slot at a later date.

Evil Eyes Slot RTP, Max Payout, and Volatility

The Evil Eyes slot comes with a high volatility setting, and the RTP comes in at 96.24%. The maximum players can win is 12,500 times their bet. If you are betting at $100 per spin, that’s a jackpot payout of $1,250,000!

Evil Eyes Slot Verdict and Recommended Games

The experience of Evil Eyes was positive. Two big wins, and I was able to cash out $51.40. No complaints. From a design perspective, I think Hacksaw Gaming could do more, but I think this is true of all their games. The Wendigo character does nothing, and whatever concept the designers had died before it got to production, but the gameplay was rewarding.
