It stars a crew of rats that rule a realm of discarded treasures. The slot’s visuals and audio are right on point and this cluster pays adventure’s features make it more than worth your time.

Playing the slot is relatively easy thanks to the simple layout. Despite the junkyard chaos and the massive 7x7 grid, you’re in for quite an electrifying experience. The slot packs quite a punch thanks to the specials which include multipliers, stretching wilds, and sticky doubling walking wilds.

You can expect more of the same in the bonus round with increasing cell multipliers. Depending on the number of triggering scatters, the bonus round comes with different modifiers. Hacksaw Gaming slots always look great, and this one isn’t any different. The grid is set against a junkyard, and the rats that rule it look pretty nasty. There’s obviously some shady business going on, and the rats are in the middle of it all. Apart from the rat symbols, you’ll also see moldy pizza slices, empty cans, and rusty buckets full of money.

The junkyard itself can be seen in the background. Some of the symbols such as the rats are animated and give the slot a distinct look and feel. The cool animations when a cascade drops makes it look even better. It’s a bit on the dark-ish side for my taste, but that might not be the problem for others.

The slot’s easy to play thanks to the simple layout. The controls are on the left and the ride side and are minimalistic so to not interrupt the gaming experience.

Playing the Junkyard Kings slot is an easy feat. The first thing you should do is place a bet. Choose between 10c and $100 per spin and let the reels spin. You need at least 5 matching symbols to hit a win, with the maximum payouts at over 36 identical symbols. The bucket of cash and wilds pay the most – 1,000x for 36+ symbols.

As a cluster pays slot, the symbols need to be on adjacent reels for you to hit a win. Winning symbols are removed via cascades, and new ones are dropped in. This feature will continue as long as there are winning combinations on the grid. This is a common feature for slots of its kind, but not the only one. In fact, each win increases the cell multipliers by 1x if a winning symbol occupies that cell. By default, the cell multiplier is set at x1, but each win takes it up by +1. The maximum is capped at x100.

As expected, the cell multipliers reset in the base game. They aren’t in the bonus round, which makes it more attractive. But, before you even get to the bonus, you have four different types of wilds.

• Regular wild: substitutes for any symbol except scatters in a winning combination
• Doubling wild: doubles the multiplier in any cell it lands on and replaces symbols in winning combinations
• Permanent doubling wild: unlike the regular doubling wild, which is removed from cells after being used in a win, the permanent doubling wild stays in it and doubles it permanently.
• Walking wild: when a walking wild rat lands on the grid, it will walk 2-10 steps in a random direction and leave a trail of wilds behind it

Some of the wilds have a new set of features attached to them in the bonus round. But, even with the standard set of features, they were more than enough for lucrative wins in my case.

Landing three or more scatters on the grid triggers the Junkyard Scavenger spins. Before the bonus starts, all cell multipliers are randomly increased. If you trigger the bonus round with three scatters, you receive ten free spins. Triggering it with four scatters starts it with 10 spins and a guaranteed doubling wild on the initial spin.

Also, the permanent doubling wild will now stay on the grid until the end of the feature. This is different than the base game where it remains active for cascades, but is removed after each spin.

There’s a bonus buy feature for players who don’t want to wait. The regular costs 100x, while the extreme version with a guaranteed doubling wild on the first spin costs 200x the bet. There are also a couple of other options that increase your chances of reaching the bonus round.

I was pretty impressed by what I saw while playing the Junkyard Spins slot for real money. Hacksaw Gaming could have easily gone with a standard cluster pays system, but it made sure the gameplay was entertaining with the addition of a few features. Those include the wilds, of which there are 4, as well as the cell multipliers that take the experience to another level.

It took a while for the slot to offer decent prizes, but once it began, it never stopped. I had more luck with the bonus round than the base game, as it offered much better payouts. It’s all thanks to the permanent wild, which will stay on the grid for the duration of the bonus round. I initially earned 10 free spins with 5 extra, good enough to land a win of 82x the bet.

The Junkyard Kings slot has an RTP of 96.26%, which is great for a medium-volatile slot game. The maximum projected win is 12,000x the bet.

Junkyard Kings is another great slot from Hacksaw Gaming. The studio has done a great job with its visually impressive slots in the past few years, and this one sits near the top of the pile. The cluster pays system is much improved with the addition of extra wilds and cell multipliers, which truly come alive in the bonus round, where the gameplay reaches its peak.
