PG Soft has developed their follow-up to the successful Mahjong Ways slot, and cleverly titled it Mahjong Ways 2. This brilliance of thinking led to headline news and a crisis meeting was held at the White House.
So, why the return, is it any good, and what is Mahjong? Well, for these to be answered I write out a 1500-word long review in which I play the game, state my opinion, highlight the bonus and game features, discuss the software and programming, and refer to Google to tell you that Mahjong is a 19th Century tile game formed in China.
For those intrigued by this slot game, you too can play, as the official free demo will be made available via this Mahjong Ways 2 slot review. The demo is playable with any mobile device, and if you want to play the game for real money, you only need to use Casinos.com to guide you to the best online casinos in your area.
Mahjong Ways 2 comes with a different layout from the original game in this series. Mahjong Ways 2 retains 5 reels, but the row setup is 4-5-5-5-4. The number of ways to win comes in at 2,000. Above the reels is a multiplier counter that highlights x1, x2, x3, and x5.
Mahjong Ways 2 is a good follow-up to the original Mahjong Ways.
When you load Mahjong Ways 2, the first action is to change your betting value. The game defaults at a massive $12 per spin, but if you need to adjust this, select the + or – button to circle through the values you can alternatively bet. The minimum price is $0.60 per spin, and the values go up to a max bet cost of $180 per spin.
Press the spin button to start the game. Winning is formed by matching 3 or more symbols across adjacent reels. Winning symbols are removed from the game, and this is when the game’s Tumbler feature comes into play. This moves existing symbols down to fill the vacant areas and drops new symbols on top of these. This motion of play allows for consecutive wins to form. So, one spin can make multiple wins.
More information about the symbol values, gameplay rules, and bonus features can be read within the game’s paytable. Refer to the menu button, where you will find the option Paytable.
Playing Mahjong Ways 2 is just like any slot machine game. You keep pressing the spin button until you have won enough to stop playing. Or until your balance has reached zero. But the gaming doesn’t exactly end here. Within Mahjong Ways 2, the slot provides special symbols that can activate features and bonuses to help you win more money (if you’re lucky).
Gold Symbols: Dropping only on reels 2, 3, and 4, these gold symbols turn into Wilds symbols if they are part of a winning outcome.
Multiplier Feature: Above the reels is a multiplier counter. When you win, the counter moves up a level, meaning that with each consecutive win, the prize is set against that multiplier. This starts at x1 and goes up to x5.
Free Spins: Landing 3 scatter bonus symbols launches the game’s main bonus round. 3 scatters result in playing 10 free spins. With each scatter landing during the round, players will win 2 additional spins. During the round, all symbols in reel 3 will be gold symbols. Also, the multipliers above the reels will become 10x, 6x, 4x, and 2x.
PG Soft's Mahjong Ways 2, like the first, is a very simple game. I loaded the game and played 50 spins at $2 per spin. The hit rate for this game is pretty good. Wins are frequent, but you will find most are lower than your bet. On spin 12, I land a $11.80 win. The Tumbler feature helps to prolong the gaming experience, so do expect a long-haul game. On spin 25, I land a $8.20 win, which is followed by a big win of $27, thanks in part to the x5 multiplier. 4 Spins later a $12 win and I am now above my initial balance with plenty of spins left.
Sadly, once all 50 spins have ended, I find myself unable to cash out any money. But the experience was good, and like the first game, I’d return to Mahjong Ways 2.
Mahjong Ways 2 comes with an RTP (Return to Player) rating of 96.95%. The volatility of the game is programmed at a medium setting. The maximum amount that can be won is 1,708x the betting value. As the max bet is $180, the top return is $307,440.
Mahjong Ways 2 is a good follow-up to the original Mahjong Ways. Wins started very low, but as more and more spins were played, they seemed to pick up larger returns. I could have stopped and cashed out, but I rode the game out, and I will return to it and try again. The medium volatility of this slot helps enhance the gaming experience, which is why medium volatility slots are my preference.
