Mystery Mice is a Pragmatic Play slot with an exciting and distinct theme. You’ll be roaming dimly lit streets in a mice detective adventure. It clearly takes inspiration from Sherlock Holmes, putting a cute mouse in the lead role. This mystery adventure takes place on a Cluster Pays grid with a highly volatile model.

As mentioned, it’s quite a unique slot from several perspectives. First and foremost, it’s the theme. We’ve seen mystery detective adventures starring Sherlock Holmes, but Sherlock Mouse? That’s a first. And I’m glad it is so because developers can get lazy with their themes.

The action takes place on a 6x6 grid, with a policeman, a detective, and his arch-nemesis on the reels. You’ll also see Wanted posters and a smoking pipe, which is an obvious nod to the detective from Baker Street. Features include tumbles and Power Wilds, which can lead to excellent wins.

Pragmatic Play’s slots always look alike or at least too close to each other in terms of layout and design. That’s not so different in the Mystery Mice slot game. It features the traditional Pragmatic Play setup and layout, with all the controls beneath the reels. It’s easy to set a bet and start playing, regardless of the device you’re playing on.

What makes this slot stand out from the crowd are the graphics and the atmosphere. The studio put a lot of effort into creating a perfect Victorian setting, both in terms of the visuals and the audio. The mice gang looks great, with the smartest of the bunch overlooking the action from the right side of the reels with his trusty magnifying glass.

The animations are superb, and overall, I’d rate the slot's look and feel an A+.

The first thing to do before you start playing the Mystery Mice slot is adjust your bet. It’s $2 by default, but you can set it anywhere from 20c to $240 per spin. As is the case with most Cluster Pays slots, you need five or more matching symbols in a cluster for a win. The highest payouts are for 15-36 matches. The leading detective is the highest-paying symbol, bringing you up to 150x your bet.

Each win triggers a tumble sequence which isn’t unusual for a slot of this kind. A Wanted poster is the wild that can substitute for other symbols in winning combinations. Whenever wilds hit, you’ll notice they have a clearance level from one to ten. Whenever the wild is involved in a win, the clearance level decreases by one level. For as long as the level is one or higher, the wild won’t explode during tumbles and fall down to the bottom before being taken off the screen.

The Mystery Mice slot likes to keep things simple when it comes to the bonus. You need three or more scatters to trigger the free spins round. You start with eight free spins. Every scatter that triggered the feature pays 1x your bet. All wilds during the bonus round will remain on the screen.

A Power Up symbol enters the mix during the feature. Whenever it lands, it adds 1, 2, or 3 to the clearance levels of all wilds on the screen. Land two or more scatters to retrigger the feature with extra spins.

If you’re impatient to reach the bonus round, you can buy it for 100x your current bet.

Mystery Mice was a refreshing slot in my experience, at least regarding the theme. The features are standard and will already be familiar to slot fans. But, to keep you on your toes, Pragmatic Play has added the Power Wilds, which change the playing field completely.

The Power Wilds are a more than welcome addition to the bonus round. They can power up the wilds and keep them on the screen instead of letting them fall off the grid. That happened a lot of times during my playthrough, helping me land decent wins of over 20x in the bonus several times.

The base game wasn’t that rewarding, although hitting a string of tumbles has the potential to provide significant wins. Unfortunately, I didn’t have the luck to power up the base game wilds, so I didn’t earn much outside of the bonus round.

Mystery Mice has an RTP of 96.49%, which is more than average for highly volatile slots. You can win a maximum of 5,000x the bet during the free spins.

Mystery Mice is a refreshing slot with a cool theme, although it could have done a bit more to add to the mystery. Maybe a villain-chasing bonus round or something? However, I'll give the developer credit where it’s due – the graphics and atmosphere. In the sea of uninteresting Egyptian slots or lame Megaways titles, this title offers something out of the ordinary.
