ELK Studios invites players to take a deep dive beneath the surface in the Oxygen slot game. Underwater-themed slots usually revolve around fishing, but Oxygen takes us to the spot of a sunken pirate ship, inviting us into the murkier part of the waters and bringing its fish to life with the type of edge we have come to expect from ELK Studios. In this Oxygen slot review, I am going to explore everything the slot has to offer and let you know whether it is worth taking for a spin at top slot sites.

ELK Studios is renowned for delivering quirky slot games, and for the most part, Oxygen follows that trend. I found the game’s symbol design to be excellent, but overall, the design lacks the edge of previous titles from the developer. The backdrop feels a little basic, with the outline of a sunken ship setting a little bit of a mood but offering little else. The graphics are strong, though, and the subtle animation of the symbols does inject some personality into the proceedings. 

The Oxygen slot takes place on an enhanced grid. There are six reels, each displaying seven symbols. It uses a Cluster Pays mechanic, with winning combinations being formed of five or more symbols landing in a cluster anywhere on the game grid. 

As with many cluster-pay slots, I wasn’t surprised to find Oxygen using an Avalanche wins feature. Whenever players land winning clusters, the symbols are removed from the grid, and new ones fall into their place. This continues until no new winning clusters form. 

To adjust the stake, click on the coin symbol in the bottom corner. The minimum stake is $0.20, and the maximum is $100, which is a range that should accommodate the majority of budgets. There is also the standard Autospin feature if you want to kick back and let the reels do the hard work. 

The Oxygen slot has several different bonus features that I found to be engaging. The first one you are likely to encounter occurs when you land a win and cause an Avalanche. 

The winning symbols leave behind a bubble displaying a 1x multiplier. If another win is formed in that position, the multiplier will double. This continues until the end of an Avalanche sequence when all bubbles are removed from the grid. This can lead to some huge wins, with a maximum multiplier size of 2,048x being available. 

Several other multiplier features can be randomly triggered in the game. The Multiplier Strike will add random multipliers to the grid and can happen at any time during either a base game or an Avalanche. The Collector can appear and collect all multipliers and add them in one position, and the Dealer can increase the value of all Multipliers on the grid by at least 2x. 

There are also some Oxygen Free Spins to be enjoyed. These are triggered when you land three Scatter symbols anywhere on the reels. Players are rewarded with ten spins, with any active multiplier positions being carried over. During the round, multipliers are persistent and do not reset. 

Players can also trigger the Super version of this bonus. During this round, there is a guaranteed multiplier active on every spin. 

If you want to skip the queue, then there is a Buy Bonus option available that will allow you to purchase free spins and multipliers for a range of different values. 

I always have fun playing Cluster Pay slots, and Oxygen was no different. I was able to stake between $0.20 and $100, which I found gives me plenty of flexibility. 

The Cluster Pays, combined with the Avalanche feature, led to some really chaotic and enjoyable sequences, with some good wins stacking up. The RTP for the game is low, and I did find that many of my wins were quite small, but I did manage to land a few notable ones after long sequences. 

To get a taste of what the game has to offer, I would recommend taking the Oxygen demo for a free spin. This is an excellent way of trying out the game’s features, and it will also introduce you to Cluster Pays mechanics if you are only used to playing standard slots. 

One of the best ways to get a sample of what the game has to offer is to try out the Buy Bonus feature. The X-iter option is available in most ELK Studios slots, and it provides several options. The cheapest of these is the Bonus Hunt for 3x, with the highest being the Super Bonus for 500x. If you are playing the free-to-play version, these can be an excellent way of trying out all of the bonuses. 

The Oxygen math model is a little bit of a mixed bag. I found the RTP of the slot to be disappointing, coming in at 94%. Lower RTPs have become more of a staple for ELK Studios slots, which is a trend that the company will hopefully change. The slot is considered highly volatile, and the maximum win is 25,000x your stake, which I was a big fan of. Wins were uncommon when I was playing, but there did appear to be the potential for big ones when they did land. 

Oxygen is a good offering from ELK Studios, but it is not one without a few flaws. The bonus features, especially the Multipliers and the Avalanche, all work together nicely to create some really engaging sequences. The maximum win of 25,000x is also something I was impressed by. However, the low RTP could turn some players away, and thematically, it is one of ELK Studios' weakest offerings in a while, which may or may not impact your enjoyment. 

If you are a fan of the Oxygen slot, I would recommend checking out other ELK Studios slots. Overall, Oxygen is definitely worth taking for a spin, but you should be aware of the low RTP and the fact you might have long sequences with zero returns.
