Reign of Fire Slot

For most people, Reign of Fire is the name of a 2002 dragon-slaying movie starring Christian Bale and Matthew McConaughey. However, in this review, I will be looking into the High Limit Studio reel spinner of the same name, which features no dragons and has a female main character with flames for hair.

For the uninformed, High Limit Studio is a Sydney-based provider that works with Games Global, formerly Microgaming. It is a fairly novel game supplier with less than ten games in its arsenal. It looks to captivate online gamblers with roaming wilds, a wheel bonus, and a free spin round.

Reign of Fire has twenty paylines and lists a maximum reward of 2,500x. It may not look like one of the most exciting new slot games on the market. The gambling action in the Reign of Fire online slot happens on a standard 5x3 grid. The golden-framed reel grid hovers high above the sky, where what I assume is a female flame goddess flanks the 5x3 layout on the left. The game buttons rest to the right of it, stacked.

The presentation here is a tad strange, compared to most slots you can find in online casinos. Visually, the game has an Ancient Greece old-school slot vibe, but its soundtrack features some type of Indian string music. 

The animations are somewhat crude, and the symbol graphics seem poorly cut out. They have no shading to blend them into their positions and the grid and appear a bit amateurishly done. That said, the game is colorful, boasting a unique atmosphere that I’m sure some gamblers will dig.

To play the Reign of Fire slot, you must place a wager first. The game lets you choose stake sizes ranging from 20c to $100 per spin. Sadly, there are no minimum and maximum bet buttons in the mentioned stack. You must keep hitting the plus and minus buttons accessible by pressing the chip icon to get to this slot's lowest and highest wagers.

To win something in the Reign of Fire online slot, you must hit three to five identical symbols on one of the twenty paylines on adjacent reels. The slot pays only the highest line win, starting from the leftmost reel. 

The gem royals generate prizes of up to x2.5 for five-of-a-kind combinations, and the item premiums create rewards up to x7.5 for the same number of matching tokens landing on a payline in a round.

The fiery goddess is the wild here, and she substitutes the low-paying and high-paying symbols of Reign of Fire, but not any of the extra ones.

You get Free Spin scatters that pay x50 for five-of-a-kind. However, you only need three of these symbols to materialize on the grid in the same round to enter the Free Spins bonus, where you get eight complimentary reel rotations to enjoy.

Landing three or more scatters again gives you another eight on-the-house spins in Reign of Fire. Hence, this mode is re-triggerable, and you get roaming wilds inside.

When you land two scatters, you move a spot on the roaming wilds trail. You will see this trail above the game grid. Every fifth position increases the number of roaming wilds by one, up to a maximum of nine. That said, the roaming wilds trail can only progress in the base game, and roaming wilds themselves are only active during free spins.

The roaming wilds trail does not reset until you trigger the free spin round with nine roaming wilds. After completing this bonus mode with nine roaming wilds, the trail will reset to two to four roaming wilds.

We should not fail to add that you get bird prize tokens appearing only on the first two reels in Reign of Fire, and hitting one wild rewards symbol on each reel activates the wild rewards. Wild and roaming wild symbols will reveal prize tokens, awarding all their displayed values from x0.2 to x50.

The game also features a wheel symbol that can randomly trigger a Wheel Bonus, offering the chance to win the highest possible reward of 2,500x.

However, If you enjoy playing slots with Bonus Buy, you'll be disappointed to hear that Reign of Fire isn't one of them.

The Reign of Fire slot caught me by surprise. At first glance, I took this title for a rudimentary spinner with not much to offer. Yet, during my review, spending $1 per spin, I kept activating the free spin round, and the roaming wilds angle got me deep into my gameplay. I also got one Wheel Bonus but only managed to win a prize worth ten times my bet. This is the lowest reward you can snag via this feature.

Reign of Fire has an RTP of 96.1% paired with a medium volatile math model and twenty paylines. As discussed, the top win here is 2,500x on a max bet of $100.

Without question, Reign of Fire has a vintage slot vibe. Nonetheless, High Limit Studio has decided to include a few exciting features to this online gambling product, separating it from its classic-looking counterparts.

While I am sure that Reign of Fire is not for everyone, with some dismissing this game as somewhat awkward, I thought it was okay and worth a shot.
