In 2019, Merkur launched a slot game called Snow Wolf Supreme. I turn back the clocks to see how this game compares to modern real money slots and if Merkur is as bad as I remember them. 

It has to be said that there are two sides to this developer. Merkur was a solo studio making pretty awful games that no casino used when they started. And the Merkur that got picked up by Blueprint Gaming’s corporate body, now ironically called Merkur Group, who seemingly pushed Merkur into making casino gaming cabinets.

That’s the intro. It’s no Pulitzer Prize-winning intro, but Snow Wolf Supreme is no prize-winning game, either. 

Though made in 2019, Snow Wolf Supreme looks like it dropped out the backside of 1999. The theme of this game comes with an Arctic animal design. You have the snowy landscape at night, with lake, forest, and mountain views. Each animal symbol has its glowing aura to make it all spiritual and stuff. 

These animals include the arctic hare, owl, mongoose, lynx, and weasel. The wolf is the wild symbol of this game, while the scenic landscape is the bonus scatter symbol. The layout of the slot is a classic 3x5 grid that contains up to 40 paylines. 

Oh, and the game looks just as bad as it sounds, so my advice is to mute the game. 

If you want to play Snow Wolf Supreme, first, visit your doctor to check if you are certifiably sane or insane, as the case may be. Once the game is loaded, set the total bet value to an amount you are comfortable with. The betting range goes from $0.40 per spin up to $20.

Is there a bonus game within Snow Wolf Supreme? The answer is yes. This game has only one special feature, despite the misleading word Supreme in its title.

Though not an important feature, Snow Wolf Supreme does come with a side game. After any win is made, you can play the gamble feature. With this, you will stake your winnings on a simple card game of black or red. If you get the colour of the mystery card wrong, you lose your winnings. 

The gamble game is so old as a feature that it’s amazing that Merkur used it in a slot launched in 2019. It’s like fashion brands trying to bring back shoulder pads; some things just should have died and been buried in the 90s.

My views on Merkur as a slot developer are about as clear as the sun. I knew just by the name that Snow Wolf Supreme would be as basic as they come. This is not a slot for me in any form. The style, the feature, the whole thing needs to be buried in the snow. 

But, to justify my claim and back it up, I would still have to play the game. So, I put my spins at a cost of $0.40 and played 100 auto spins. The end result left me $20 down, having spent $40. If you know of the Justin Timberlake meme of disapproval, that’s the face I am pulling. 

Snow Wolf Supreme comes with an RTP score of 96.1%, while the volatility setting is set at medium. 

The total possible win is 2,000 times the amount you wager. So, you can potentially win $40,000 if you spin at $20 per spin. This is a bit… rubbish, you could say. It’s far from being a game that is good value for money. When you think there are slots out there offering more than double this that can be won by spinning the reels for less cost. 

Snow Wolf Supreme is as basic as a slot game can be made. Despite its age, it looks nothing like a modern slot machine. The design is dated, as is the sound. The gamble option adds something but not enough, and I can’t figure out why it was made.
