If Pragmatic Play isn’t busy making fish games, then they are working on slots like this. Sweet Kingdom is another in a long line of sweet-themed slots that have been churned out by Pragmatic Play. In this review, I take the game on from my preferred online casino for real money. I discuss the design, rules of engagement, bonus features, and software programming.
This review also comes with the developer’s official free-to-play demo. You can access the free slot via your iOS device or Android smartphone. The free slot demo can be played without restriction and for an unlimited time.
The Sweet Kingdom slot comes with an enormous layout of seven rows and seven reels. The game is without paylines and instead forms wins via its Cluster Pays programming. The design of this game is pretty much like all sweet-themed slots. You have a candy land that is glazed in pink and white. The backdrop shows the castle, as the Sweet Kingdom King stands to the right of the reels. The music is reminiscent of a musical harpsichord, playing a calming, sweet tune backed by soft trumpets.
Sweet Kingdom is sadly another in a recent run of casino games that have seen this developer become bereft of ideas. Sweet Kingdom is a theme that seems childish when the industry is supposedly aimed at adults.
Pragmatic Play slots are found everywhere online, so getting the game isn’t going to be any sort of issue. Once located, load the game and immediately set the betting value that you pay per spin. The game defaults at $2, but prices range between $0.20 and $240. You can select the – and + buttons to set your bet level.
With your bet in place, the game will begin when you have either selected the spin button or the autoplay feature. Winning is formed by landing the same symbols within clusters of 5 or more. These symbols can be horizontal and vertical. When a win happens, the Tumbler feature kicks in. Winning symbols are removed from their position, and any symbol above drops down into the empty areas. New symbols then fall or tumble into the game from above to fill the space. This tumbler action can produce new winning clusters consecutively, all from one spin.
The game holds money symbols, which are the treasure chests. The values of them range from 0.05x to 20x your bet value. When the key symbol lands, all money values on the slot are collected.
Playing slots online isn’t difficult. Sweet Kingdom is like any other casino game, despite how it looks. Players only need to spin the reels and await the randomized outcome. You will stop playing by either running out of money or through boredom. But you keep spinning until you win as much as you can.
The Sweet Kingdom slot game by Pragmatic Play comes with one main bonus feature, which is the Free Spins round. You need to land three to seven star scatter symbols to activate the free spins game.
The money symbols that feature will remain in play based on the number of lives displayed on them. Each spin played removes a life. The bonus round also features a new immortal money symbol. This golden chest remains in play through all spins played. The values it can contain, again, range from 0.05x to 20x your bet. Hit the same number of scatter symbols during the round to win additional free spins.
Now, if you do not want to play spin after spin within the base game in hopes of landing the bonus round, then why not just pay to activate the special feature? The Bonus Buy option allows players to buy their way into the bonus game for 100 times the cost of what they are betting. The number of spins winnable is totally random.
Casino games like Sweet Kingdom have zero appeal to me. But, given my position, I have played a few that have pleasantly surprised me with their eagerness to help me win large sums of money.
I found the game in my top casino, loaded it up, set my bet at $2, and also set the autoplay to 50 spins. Now, I live by the idea that if no win lands in the first ten spins, the game is a dud; luckily, it came in on my sixth spin. However, it was a win in my first 15 spins, which is poor. All returns are less than my bet value, so this game is a bit of a stinker when it comes to returns, a bugbear of mine with cluster games. You have to land loads of symbols in a cluster, and the return is seemingly minimal. With ten spins left, I have won less than ten times and only once has a return that matches my bet — all others below it.
The game ends, and I have nothing to cash out and nothing positive to say about the experience.
The Return to Player rating for Sweet Kingdom comes in at an average of 96.53%. The game is programmed with a high volatility setting, which perhaps accounts for why my experience sucked. The maximum jackpot that can be won is 10,000 times your wagering bet. If you play $240 per spin, the max return will therefore be $2,400,000!
Of late, Pragmatic Play are making really lazy and poor games. Sweet Kingdom is sadly another in a recent run of casino games that have seen this developer become bereft of ideas. Sweet Kingdom is a theme that seems childish when the industry is supposedly aimed at adults. There is only one feature to the game and one bonus. The layout is a repeated one and why have a gaming character stand next to the slot that does absolutely nothing?

The only bonus feature within the Sweet Kingdom game is a free spins bonus round. The number of spins won is relative to the number of scatter symbols you land. You must land between 3 to 7 scatter symbols, and you can win between 10 and 30 free spins.
For a cost that is 100 times your betting amount, you can buy your way into the game’s bonus feature. The number of spins you play with is also randomized, so you might only get ten spins, or you might be lucky and land the full 30.
