The Watcher is a Stakelogic slot with an ominous theme and a pay-both-ways mechanism. It plays across a 6x6 grid and features many fun bonus elements. Players can increase their chances of getting to the free spins round by turning on the Super Stake or skipping the grind altogether using the Buy Bonus option.
With a max prize potential of 9,000x, mystery multipliers, and a re-triggerable bonus game, The Watcher slot seems to check all the boxes for being a must-try title. But before you rush in to find The Watcher at one of our best rated online casinos, we suggest you try the demo mode on this page and read my first-hand experience playing the game for real money.
According to the game’s story (as sourced from the studio’s official website), The Watcher is an evil creature that possesses a young woman and uses her as a means to infiltrate the town church. Two priests band together in unwavering faith to confront the monster and save the town from its sinister influence.
This is as much of a narrative as you’ll get in a video slot, and I have to give my props to Stakelogic for coming up with such an original concept for the game. The 6x6 layout is also atypical for a video slot, and it could be another smart reference to the game’s theme, with the number 6 representing evil and all that jazz.
Low-win symbols consist of differently colored candles lit atop various floor markings used in rituals, and mid-tier symbols include various religious artifacts. In contrast, the highest-paying symbols are the two priests and the possessed woman. The wild (The Watcher’s eyes) appears in clusters and can drop on any reel, replacing all other symbols in a win except the bonus symbol (a skull).
The Watcher is an excellent horror-themed slot, and it stands out as one of the best Stakelogic games I’ve ever played.
After finding The Watcher slot at any of our recommended top online casinos, you can use the +/- buttons in the bottom right corner of the control panel to set your stake anywhere from $0.20 to $100.
The autoplay feature enables you to trigger five or more automated spins, including the “infinite” option, which means the autoplay will remain active until you decide to end it. You can also select for the autoplay to stop on a bonus round or after reaching a certain win or loss amount. The Turbo Spin button is to the left of the main spin button and speeds up the spin animation.
The Watcher is equipped with the Super Stake option. When turned on, it increases your wager by 25% and boosts the chance for bonus symbols to appear. You can also buy the bonus round for 100x your original bet.
In any case, the bonus round triggers once you land three or more bonus symbols, with 3, 4, 5, and 6 bonus symbols awarding 6, 8, 10, and 20 free spins, respectively.
During the round, two types of bonus symbols can appear — blue and purple. Each of them blows out one of the candles on the left, and when all the candles are blown out, you win an extra free spin.
The bonus symbols work with the wilds, with each blue bonus symbol increasing the multiplier applied to wild wins and each purple bonus symbol increasing the size of the wild cluster.
The Mystery Multiplier can show up randomly in the base game. At the same time, it acts as a progressive multiplier during the free spins round, increasing every time a blue bonus symbol appears.
I loaded the game with just over $250 in my balance and set the stake to $4. I also turned on the Super Stake option, bringing my total wager to $5 per spin. It started pretty slow, with me losing over $100 in just the first few minutes without any sizable wins.
My luck then turned around, and I won six free spins with just over $100 left in my balance. I landed around $130 in the round, having won an extra free spin and raised the progressive multiplier to 4x.
Still, this only got me close to where I started, so I decided to take a bigger risk and purchase the bonus round. However, since I didn’t have enough money in my balance (a $4 stake means you must have $400 to buy the bonus round), I lowered my bet to $2 and accessed the round for $200.
I almost regretted making this move, but it paid off on the very last free spin. I won a Mega Win, increasing my total winnings to $276 and my balance to about $300. I then withdrew my $50 profit and called it a day.
The RTP of The Watcher is 96.01%, which is in line with the average for video slots, and the max multiplier sits at a very solid 9,000x. The game’s considered a slot of high volatility, producing occasional big wins but with common dry spells that can last for dozens of spins.
I have nothing but praise for The Watcher, and not just because I was lucky enough to win while playing it for real money.
The game has an original theme conveyed through excellent graphics and sound effects and an engaging and unique bonus round that can produce massive payouts. I also like that the players can increase the chance of triggering the bonus round, flat-out buy the free spins feature, or grind it out.
The Watcher is an excellent horror-themed slot, and it stands out as one of the best Stakelogic games I’ve ever played. You can now experience it yourself, as we’ve embedded The Watcher demo on this page.
If you want to try your luck on games with similar themes, I suggest Infective Wild by Pragmatic Play, Big Bass Halloween by Reel Kingdom, or Monsterville Secrets by Games Global, to name a few of my favorites.

The Watcher was released on October 28, 2024, and this date is no coincidence. Every year, providers make special horror-themed games in time for Halloween. Stakelogic simply caught on to this trend, and it’s not the first time it's done it, either. In October 2022, Stakelogic released a title called Devil’s Trap, featuring hair-raising visuals and sound effects.
The Watcher has a bonus free spin round that you can trigger by landing three or more bonus symbols during the base game. You can also purchase the bonus round for 100x your stake. It includes special symbols that add extra free spins, increase the progressive multiplier, and work with wild symbols.
To buy free spins in this game, click the Buy Bonus button in the top left. You will then see a window showing the price, 100 times your current stake, and the “Buy” button. A spin will play out once you make the purchase, resulting in at least three bonus symbols.
