Fenrir is a monstrous wolf in Norse mythology, and this game looks to have quite the set of teeth on it through features such as an orb collection, a Viking’s Axe Smash round, wild reels, and a free spin bonus with three different modes.

Foxium is not what some would call a premium provider. Yet, I have to give this company credit where it's due. It has created some great-looking games in the past, such as Fortune Pike Gold and their other popular Nordic romp Vikings: Fight for Honour is not a bad-looking title in its own right. 

Here, Foxium’s team has stuck to what they are best at, creating painterly graphics with a cartoony vibe. While I would not rank the presentation of Vikings: The Saga of Fenrir among the best I have recently seen, it is pretty good, boasting a cohesive look that I liked.

The audio side of things here is also not too bad, but the animations could use some work. Some were not as smooth as I would have liked and looked a tad amateurish. Fenrir (the wolf), I’m looking at you. 

This slot's buttons are presented in a vertical stack right of the reel grid. The turbo/auto-play buttons are on top of the spin button, and the bet selector and settings icons are the last two.

When you open the Vikings: The Saga of Fenrir slot, you will probably instantly notice that each reel has an orb meter at the top. Landing these objects fills these positions, and collecting two activates the Wild Reel feature, turning that reel wild. Reels stay wild for two spins, and you can trigger this mode during the free spin bonus, activating it on up to three random reels. More on that later.

In this game, a battle axe may randomly shatter the screen. That is the previously mentioned – Viking’s Axe Smash feature, which nudges the reels. Landing three scatters here gives you entry in the free spin round, where you can choose from three different modes. That’s pretty cool. The first choice supplies two on-the-house spins with three wild reels active. The second eight spins with two reels going wild, and the third awards twenty-five spins with only one wild reel. 

You can reactivate this mode, where the wild reels change their positions arbitrarily. However, there is no bonus buy option for impatient gamblers in this slot. 

I’m going to be truthful. I lost pretty much my entire $50 budget playing this game in a trusted online casino. That is not to say you will have a similar experience with this online slot. I’m only telling you what happened in my planned four-hundred-spin session, which I exited after some two hundred rounds with $4 left.

I bet $1 per spin and caught a bad string of luck, as I got nothing but losing spin after losing spin. I must have tied like twenty in a row. That surprised me for a medium volatility product. I managed to restore some of my funds, but another losing streak hit, and I decided to call it a day; with $4 left, that is money I spent on candy to satisfy my sweet tooth and ease my pain at the same time.

In my opinion, Vikings: The Saga of Fenrir is an average slot for fans of this theme. Overall, I would call it a mediocre game with slightly above-average features and visuals. It doesn’t reinvent the wheel, and it is nothing I would recommend to those not particularly into Viking spinners.
