The legend of Zorro is a popular tale that has been used for many online slots over the years. The Zorro slot from Aristocrat is one of the oldest online titles to use the theme, bringing the legendary character to life with a simple design and a selection of bonuses. In this Zorro slot review, I take the slot for a spin and find out exactly what the masked hero serves up on the reels. 

Zorro has been available in online casinos since 2015, so those expecting a modern game with immersive graphics may be a little disappointed. 

If, however, you like your slot design to be simple and not distracting, then Zorro may get your attention. The reels are presented in a very basic format, with a black background displaying the Z of Zorro across it. 

The symbols on the reels have an old-school cartoon design, with Zorro, an admiral, and a beautiful princess being the higher-paying symbols. The lower paying symbols include a dress, a barrel, and the standard 10-A card symbols. 

Slot players will have no problem adjusting to the Zorro online slot. The game has a conventional set-up, with five reels, three rows, and 25 paylines marked around the reels. To see these lines in more detail, you can access the paytable using the settings button in the top corner. 

You will also need to use this to adjust your stake. Each bet is placed on a coins-per-line basis, with players able to adjust the number of active lines on each spin.

To trigger this bonus, players need to land the ZORRO overlay symbols across the grid. Players will then get to choose from one of five different bonuses:

• Magic Door: Players choose a special character at the start of the round and are given five free spins. Whenever this character lands during the spins, it will reveal a multiplier of 500x, 750x, or 1,000x your line bet. 

I tested Zorro on a laptop using Google Chrome and my iPhone using Safari. In both instances, I found the slot easy to play, with the game layout appearing the same on both devices. The slot’s graphics are incredibly basic, so nothing is lost when you make the switch to a mobile. 

There is no buy bonus option, but there is an ante-bet style feature. When playing the Zorro slot demo, which I recommend you do, activating this will give you an increased chance of triggering the bonus. 

The minimum per line bet is $0.01, and the maximum is $1, giving the game an overall minimum and maximum of $0.25 and $25 with all lines active. The flexibility with line bets and stakes is something you do not find in many modern online slots, so that can be refreshing from a budget perspective. 

Aristocrat slot games are not known for their big wins, and Zorro keeps that trend up. You can land a win of 5,000x your line stake if you land five Wild Zorro symbols. However, with all lines active, this will only amount to 200x your overall stake. 

The Zorro slot RTP is 95.5%, and the volatility is rated as low. This math model is fairly consistent across many of Aristocrat slots. 

Zorro is very much an old-school slot game, and it is going to appeal to a very specific type of player. If you want complex gameplay mechanics and bonuses, you will not find a lot to like about Zorro. However, if you want an old-fashioned slot with simple bonuses and adjustable paylines, it might be for you. 

However, the math model in the slot is disappointing, with the maximum win not likely to get too many pulses racing. The choice of bonuses, however, is solid, with the five options all providing their own slice of action to the game.
