Man Arrested in the UK For Allegedly Providing Unlicensed Gambling

Authorities have arrested a man in Stoke-On-Trent for allegedly providing unlicensed gambling, the UKGC and Staffordshire Police have confirmed.

The man is alleged to have committed offences under Section 33 and 330 of the Gambling Act 2005. The investigation is on-going. 

A spokesperson from the UKGC revealed in a release to Casinos.com, "A man was today arrested on suspicion of providing unlicensed gambling.

"The 39-year-old was arrested in Stoke-on-Trent as part of an investigation led by the Gambling Commission and supported by Staffordshire Police.

"The man is alleged to have committed offences under Section 33 and 330 of the Gambling Act 2005 (opens in new tab).

"The Commission will not be commenting further at this time."

Casinos.com followed up on this to find more information, but it was confirmed that no other details would be revealed while investigations were active. 

The spokesperson revealed, "Because proceedings are active neither us nor the police can say any more than what’s in our release."

Elsewhere in casino news in the UK, the Grosvenor Victoria Casino in London was granted permission to extend alcohol sales until 6 a.m. on weekends. 

Peter Turpin, the casino's general manager, said that the casino was not looking to change its target customers and that the changes would not bring more people to the premises. 

The Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) also reprimanded Sky Betting and Gaming for unlawful cookie practices, specifically for processing users' personal data via advertising cookies without proper consent from January 10 to March 3, 2023.
