Odds On Next Celebrity To Make A Coronation Street Cameo

Coronation Street fans have witnessed an explosive start to 2025. While some were still reeling from Weatherfield icon Gail Platt's departure, Corrie bosses announced the soap will lose an episode a week from January 2026.

Several stars have also recently confirmed they are leaving the cobbles this year, including Sue Cleaver, Colson Smith and Charlotte Jordan, and it's also expected that Shelley King and Sue Devaney will depart Weatherfield before the year is out.

Not only that, but poor Gail's old house, No. 8 Coronation Street, has gone up in flames recently, leaving fans wondering when the dismantlement might stop.

If ever die-hard Corrie viewers needed a pick-me-up, it is now—and what better way to boost morale on the Street than with some star-studded guest appearances? Cometh the hour, cometh the celebrity cameos.

Knocking On Corrie Bosses' Door

Music legends are no strangers to the cobbles, with the likes of Sir Cliff Richard and Status Quo previously appearing in Weatherfield. But could Bob Dylan be next?

The Knockin' on Heaven's Door hitmaker admitted in 2022 he "binges" Coronation Street, which sparked a cameo offer from then-Corrie boss Iain MacLeod.

He told the Daily Telegraph newspaper at the time, "To hear that Bob Dylan is a Coronation Street viewer blows my mind. I would absolutely love the idea of him turning up in the Rovers Return one night.

"Maybe we could write in an open mic night and a mysterious singer could roll in out of the Manchester rain and do a turn."

While such a guest appearance is yet to materialise, Dylan is just 4/6 to rock up on the cobbles later this year, and fellow music icon Sir Mick Jagger is a 2/1 chance.

The Rolling Stones frontman previously joked about Coronation Street serial killer Pat Phelan (Connor McIntyre) during the band's Old Trafford concert in Manchester in 2018. He told the crowd, "We went to the Northern Quarter. We went down the Curry Mile and I think I saw Pat Phelan. He was eating some papadums!"

What's more, Katy Perry admitted days later in 2018 that she is "obsessed" with England and "likes to watch Coronation Street and EastEnders."

She is 3/1 to appear in Weatherfield soon, and British band Bring Me The Horizon are 4/1 shots, after it was reported in 2019 that bassist Matt Kean was "desperate" to appear on the cobbles.

A source close to the band told The Sun at the time, "Matt has always loved 'Corrie' and is desperate for a cameo on the show. Their team has reached out to soap bosses to try to make it a reality and think it could be a fun thing for viewers too."

Rooney In The Rovers

One Corrie star who knows all about reality is Alan Halsall. The Tyrone Dobbs actor appeared on the reality TV show I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! late last year, and he has been trying to get his campmate, TV personality Coleen Rooney, a role in Corrie ever since.

Coleen—the wife of former England footballer Wayne Rooney—has already had a taste of Soapland after being an extra in Hollyoaks, and she is keen to explore new projects.

Recently, she told the Daily Star newspaper, "Alan is trying to get me behind the bar in Coronation Street. "I loved performing arts and acting when I was younger. I always went to drama classes."

Following her latest comments, Coleen is into Evens for a Corrie cameo, while Alan's pal and Wayne's ex Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson is a 10/1 outsider. If Weatherfield County FC is after a new manager soon, then Alan could put in a good word with his mate.

Like Coleen, another star who has been heavily linked to a Corrie cameo recently is Sarah Ferguson. The Duchess of York, who has previously appeared in the US sitcom Friends and the British comedy The Vicar of Dibley, is 8/11 to land such a role.

She visited the Coronation Street set in October and admitted she was confident of landing a cameo.

She previously said on This Morning, "I think I've persuaded the director to give me a cameo part. I'm going to practice my pint pulling, and I'm going to have hotpot.

"And, apparently, what else I have to do is speak Northern. I'm very sorry to all Northerners watching, but I have to say, 'Mug.' "

Peter Kay To Bring Back Corrie Laughs

One northerner who would be sure to bring plenty of laughs to the Street is Peter Kay—and he knows all about Weatherfield.

Peter appeared as a shoplifter in the ITV soap in 1997, and he returned to the show in 2004 to portray drayman Eric Gartside, who was a love interest for Sally Lindsay's character Shelley Unwin.

Corrie fans are often flooding message boards and social media sites, calling for more giggles on the cobbles—and Peter could be the answer.

He is 5/4 to make a Coronation Street cameo next, just ahead of TV presenter Lorraine Kelly (11/8) and actress Dame Joanna Lumley (15/8). Corrie superfan Lorraine had a cameo in 2019 when she was on holiday with the Platt family, and Gail accidentally shot her in the leg with an arrow.

What's more, Joanna is making everyone laugh in the new BBC comedy Amandaland at the moment, and it would be a masterstroke to cast her in Coronation Street again. She is familiar with the Street after portraying legendary character Ken Barlow's (William Roache) girlfriend Elaine Perkins in 1973.

Another British national treasure who has appeared in Corrie is Sir Ian McKellen.

He portrayed conman novelist Mel Hutchwright in 2005 and is 5/2 to reprise his role, while fellow knighthood recipient Sir Cliff Richard—who made a brief Rovers Return appearance in 1997—is a 12/1 outsider to appear on the cobbles once more.

Actresses Dame Joan Collins and Anna Friel are 6/1 and 8/1, respectively, to return to the show after both had brief stints in the 90s.
