Odds On When Prince Harry Will Return To The UK To Live

Prince Harry's move to America in 2020 was not without controversy, and many traditional British Royalists have been hoping he will reconsider ever since. Alongside looking at casino sites daily, we decided to look into Harry's chances of moving home.

While thoughts of a Harry homecoming have previously been mainly in hope than expectation - after Harry and his wife Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, settled in California, where they raise their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, who was born there in 2021 - Royal super-fans may have pricked up their ears when Harry's immigration status in the US came into question.

Conservative think tank The Heritage Foundation has alleged he may have concealed past illegal drug use, after he admitted in his memoir Spare and in his Netflix series that he has previously taken cannabis, cocaine, and psychedelics.

Harry's comments came before his move Stateside in 2020, but the Heritage Foundation believes he may have either lied on his documents, or received some sort of special treatment to avoid being disqualified from obtaining a US visa.

While the case was dismissed in September, The Heritage Foundation revived it after Donald Trump returned to office.  There has since been calls for the US President to deport the prince.  However, Trump has said he won't chuck Harry out of the country, and he used the opportunity to have a dig at Meghan instead.

When asked if he will deport Harry, he told the New York Post newspaper: "I don’t want to do that. "I’ll leave him alone. He’s got enough problems with his wife. She’s terrible."

Hurry Back Harry

While this appears to be good news for Harry and Meghan, there is clearly still some heat on the prince about his previous claims.

What's more, he has suffered a fresh blow after a judge, Carl Nichols, who is overseeing the two-year case, admitted he wants the "maximum amount possible" of evidence released to see how Harry came to the US.

It is a U-turn for the judge, who last year said the records should remain private. However, Nichols favours "maximum disclosure as long as it doesn’t violate [the prince’s] privacy".

If Harry is feeling the heat then could the Duke of Sussex adopt a "run before you're pushed" tactic?  He is 5/4 to move back to the UK next year, and it's just 6/4 he heads back to his homeland in 2027, while he is 7/2 to head back as early as this year.

While that seems soon, should The Heritage Foundation get their way a swift move might be required.  And Bronte Coy, news.com.au's Royal Correspondent, believes Harry could return because he probably misses the UK "very much".

She said recently on The Sun's Royal Exclusive Show: "A lot of things have changed in the past five years and it's entirely possible that, with some reflection, there's a big part of him wondering if there's a way to bring the UK back into his life.

"When they left, they left in such a passionate blaze of glory - they were so disheartened and bruised by the situation they'd had back here.

"With all these things, once the dust settles and the emotion gets taken out of it a bit, the reality is he loves his home country - he talked about it in his memoir.

"After a few years, he probably just very much misses it."

Royal biographer Andrew Lownie recently told the same publication: "Maybe the door is being left open for Harry to come back to Britain."

Meghan Would Need Convincing

However, one stumbling block could be trying to convince his wife to move back. Harry and Meghan stepped down as senior royals in January 2020 and then moved to the US shortly afterwards, and it might be seen as a backwards step for the couple to relocate to the UK.

In 2023 book Endgame, written by journalist Omid Scobie, who has been described as a "mouthpiece" for the Duchess, he wrote that Meghan "never wants to step foot in England again".

He also alleged she "never really felt at home" in Britain and that she "never wants to be involved in the British monarchy again".

Former Suits actress Meghan might take longer to convince, and it's 2/1 that she and Harry make the move back to England in 2028 or later.

Harry's Unlikely Homecoming

However, the couple may not be planning to move back at all.  They have built up business and philanthropic projects during their five years Stateside, and Harry recently insisted he wants to stay in the US for the long term.

While at The New York Times Dealbook Summit, during a solo jaunt to the Big Apple in December, he was asked if he is planning to reside in America for good.  He replied to Andrew Sorkin: "I do. I very much enjoy living here and bringing my kids up here."

Harry also believes the American life is what his mum, the late Princess Diana, would've "wanted" for him, and he admitted his family has a level of privacy in the US and can take part in a life of activities they "undoubtedly wouldn't be able to do in the UK".

It's 5/1 they never move back to Britain - but never is a long time.
