A woman has become a millionaire after purchasing a Lucky Dip ticket on the National Lottery. 33-year-old Toni Henderson initially thought she had won a bonus of £1,700.
The lucky winner admitted to only buying the occasional ticket. This occasional ticket happened to make Henderson a millionaire and she wasted no time in deciding that some of the cash would be spent on her family.
Henderson admitted to finding it difficult to pay the bills recently and living on her own has become a bit of struggle.
The win is a life changing event for Toni and her son. She has said that the win would be a massive help to her and provide some freedom and independence. She took her son shopping for toys, but old habits die hard, and she said that she felt guilty for spending the cash and had told her son that some things were still too expensive.
Toni said that she was in shock when she discovered the amount she had really won and went to give her Mum the news while all the time suffering with butterflies in her stomach and feeling a sense of disbelief that she had won so much money.
Toni has said that she will continue to work because she would feel bored if she were to stop. Toni did take a few days off work just to try and come to terms with the win and let the excitement die down.
Toni said that physically seeing all the zeros appearing in her bank account was incredible.
Henderson said: "You sit and think about what you’d do all the time if you won, but then, when it happens, you don’t know what to do."
Toni plans to spend some of the money helping her family and taking her son to Disneyland, Florida for a holiday.
A new car is also a prospect for one of the National Lottery’s latest UK millionaires.
Most of my career was spent in teaching including at one of the UK’s top private schools. I left London in 2000 and set up home in Wales raising four beautiful children. I enrolled at University where I studied Photography and film and gained a Degree and subsequently a Masters Degree. In 2014 I helped launch a new local newspaper and managed to get front and back page as well as 6 filler pages on a weekly basis. I saw that journalism was changing and was a pioneer of hyperlocal news in Wales. In 2017 I started one of the first 24/7 free independent news sites for Wales. Having taken that to a successful business model I was keen for a new challenge. Joining the company is exciting for me especially as it is a new role in Europe. I am keen to establish myself and help others to do the same.
