Olly Alexander represented the UK in Eurovision 2024. What will his next career moves be? (Image: Pixsell / Alamy)
Olly Alexander may not have set the Eurovision Song Contest alight for the UK in the same way 2022 runner-up Sam Ryder did, but the live music event has still given him plenty of publicity.
While he may not be dining out on finishing 18th out of 25 acts in Malmo, the star recently admitted one of the reasons he represented the UK at the Eurovision Song Contest was to boost his solo career's "platform.".
Olly told the Daily Star Sunday newspaper: "I did Eurovision because it was a great opportunity to promote my music. That was part of my decision."
"I'm releasing new music for the first time in a few years. I hope that Eurovision will be a brilliant platform for Dizzy."
Olly certainly appears to have done just that for Dizzy - the tune has been a massive hit on TikTok since the Eurovision Song Contest - and he has a new album on the way.
But we shouldn't forget he is already a fantastic actor, so with the added attention Eurovision has brought him, could he be tempted back to the small screen soon?
Odds table on what will Olly Alexander do next.
While he is best known for his music, Olly started out as an actor, and he has appeared in the likes of TV shows Skins and Penny Dreadful, as well as movies Gulliver's Travels and the 2012 big screen adaptation of Great Expectations.
But it was ground-breaking Channel 4 drama It's a Sin is where he put himself firmly on the acting map.
Olly portrayed gay aspiring singer-and-actor Ritchie Tozer in the series, which followed a group of friends through the 1980s AIDs crisis.
His portrayal earned him critical acclaim, including a BAFTA TV Award nomination for Best Actor, and a Critics' Choice Television Award nod in the same category, but he hasn't starred in a lead role since.

Despite that, Olly's Eurovision stint may have helped to put him back in the minds of TV or movie bosses, and he is just 6/4 to land a lead role on a small screen show or film soon.
Olly did recently have another taste of TV work when he made a cameo in the BBC soap EastEnders, as part of his Eurovision story.
The plot involved Olly arriving in the fictional London borough of Walford for a surprise visit and he made a pit-stop at The Queen Vic pub to reconnect with EastEnders character Johnny Carter, who was said to be his "old friend" in the show, before the Albert Square residents wished him well for Eurovision.
Olly admitted he was "thrilled" to make his EastEnders debut and was also pleased for his mum because the BBC soap is her favourite show.
He may well have gotten a taste for soap opera acting during his cameo, and he is just 3/1 to land a regular role in a British soap.
However, with Olly clearly still keen to make new music, he might put acting on the back burner for now.
If so, he will no doubt be looking to play at some big music festivals next year.
There is nothing bigger in the UK than to headline Glastonbury Festival, and the star is 5/1 to do so in 2025.
It might be a bit of a big ask, but he is no stranger to the Worthy Farm setting after playing Glasto in 2022 as the lead singer of pop band Years & Years.
The group weren't far off top billing on The Other Stage, only supporting Pet Shop Boys, who closed the stage at that year's Glastonbury, while Kendrick Lamar performed on the Pyramid Stage on Sunday evening.
Olly will no doubt be in demand with festival bookers looking to fill up their lineups for next year, but could reality TV bosses also want a piece of him?
It may not seem like the obvious direction for his career to go, but following his Eurovision stint, the Dizzy hitmaker could be inundated with reality TV offers.
Arguably the top two in the reality TV calendar both happen at the end of the year, in the shape of Strictly Come Dancing and I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!, so it could be ideal timing.
Olly is no stranger to throwing some serious shapes on stage, as we saw with his Dizzy performance at Eurovision, so would it be that surprising if he signed up for this year's Strictly?
He is 8/1 to be a contestant on the Latin and ballroom show, and a slightly bigger 10/1 to appear on the Australian jungle-based I'm A Celebrity.
I would imagine he'd favour Salsas and sequins over creepy-crawlies.
