Illinois Casino Revenues Rise 12.2% Year-on-Year in March

The Illinois Gaming Board has released its casino revenue figures for March 2025, revealing revenues of $170.9 million for all casinos. That’s an increase of over 12% compared to March 2024. It also rose by almost 21% compared to February 2025.

Hard Rock Casino Rockford Leads Casino Revenue Rises

Of the 16 Illinois casinos that reported revenues in March 2025, nine reported a rise compared to March 2024, and another casino only opened in November 2024. The most significant revenue change was seen at Hard Rock Casino Rockford, which almost doubled its revenues year-on-year.

The casino increased its revenue total from $6.5 million to $13.1 million, becoming the second most significant contributor to state-wide revenues. For context, in March 2024, it added less than eight casinos.

While no other casino could match that rise, Danville Development also saw revenues jump by over 15% year-on-year, and FHR-Illinois increased its revenues by 12%. Meanwhile, six casinos saw revenues rise under 10%

However, the most significant contributor to state-wide revenue, Rivers Casino, saw its revenues drop 8.5% year over year, from $47.7 million to $43.6 million.

Illinois Land-Based Casino Industry Thriving As Online Casino Bill Progresses

It wasn’t a positive month for every Illinois casino, but the overall picture was positive, with the majority seeing revenue growth and overall revenue figures climbing. Lawmakers may want to consider this as a bill to legalize online casino gambling progress through the legislature.

HB 3080 from Representative Edgar Gonzalez Jr. was re-referred to the Rules Committee at the end of March, where lawmakers will discuss its merits and pitfalls. Many people believe online casinos reduce the revenues land-based casinos can generate, and after such a positive March, that will be the last thing casino operators want.

My love for gambling and casinos started early when my grandad handed me a video poker machine as a kid, sparking a lifelong fascination with the game. I grew up watching Celebrity Poker religiously and that turned into my organizing March Madness bracket tournaments all throughout elementary and high school—making every March a high-stakes competition among friends before I was even old enough to place a real bet.
