Rock, rock, til you drop! Rock, rock, never stop!
I’m a career journalist based in Las Vegas whose obsession with poker during the early boom days led me down a path covering gaming. I happened to be the first official blogger for both the WSOP and PartyPoker, and founded Pokerati.com. As an award-winning blogger, podcaster and news reporter, I have always sought to elevate the standards of journalism in gaming media. In more mainstream endeavors, I’m a stringer for the Washington Post and previously have written for The New York Times, Associated Press, Las Vegas Review-Journal, The Dallas Morning News, Texas Monthly and many others.
As Casinos.com charts its course in the gaming industry, my role is to help establish our voice as we determine how to best serve our readers with news. Links and traffic may be the name of the game, but it all begins with understanding the readers, which for us means casino players and casino enthusiasts, and what makes them tick.
Poker and blackjack.
Red Rock is the local casino-resort in Las Vegas that I visit most regularly, as it’s walking distance from my house. For visitors, it depends what you’re looking for … Treasure Island is your best value with a great location on the Las Vegas Strip. Downtown, Golden Nugget is a beautiful and fun place to stay with an authentic old-Vegas vibe. Online, I still regularly find my way to WSOP.com, and you can’t go wrong with BetMGM.
When not thinking about media and casinos, I can be found on the tennis courts, where I have captained two teams to USTA national championships, and one to second place.
I have a weird fixation with photographing personalized license plates. Over the years, I’ve amassed a digital collection of thousands, and have opinions about the messages they convey.
