There is no doubt about it: Dublin is a city that prides itself on its ability to delight. It's a famously warm, welcoming, and fun-loving city, and that is reflected in its casinos as well.

Okay, so Dublin is not known its gambling establishments, but there are still plenty that are worth checking out.

Dublin Land Based Casino Operators

Dublin has a real have-a-go culture, so it will probably surprise no one that the city avoids the big operators. Instead, smaller independent casinos operate.

The one exception really is Jesters, who have three casinos in Ireland, including one in Dublin.

Dublin Casinos

Dublin has a perhaps surprisingly good choice of casinos and something to suit all tastes, one suspects.

They include:

  • Carlton Casino Club - A small and intimate casino with a few tables but practically no slots. It has a very vintage feel and that is very much it's biggest charm.
  • Jesters - A well-located casino close to Temple Bar but that has its own charm despite the fact ir=t has certainly seen better days.
  • Sporting Emporium - Located in the heart of Dublin's shopping and cultural centre that is well-polished. However, it lacks slots which will be a turn-off to many.
  • Playland - A small but smoke-free casino right in the centre of O'Connell Street that is not for live table game players but has a decent selection of slots.

More Than Gambling

Dublin is a city that should be on the bucket list of everyone in the world, not just those who like a casino trip. It has a huge amount to offer tourists, all with the added bonus of that unique Dublin charm. That includes:

  • Incredible history: Dublin is home to a wealth of historic sites, such as Dublin Castle, Christ Church Cathedral, and St. Patrick's Cathedral. The city also boasts the General Post Office (GPO), which played a significant role in the 1916 Easter Rising.
  • Vibrant nightlife: Dublin is probably best known for its nightlife, with a proud jovial drinking culture running through the city. The Temple Bar area is especially brilliant in this regard, but you will never be far from a great pub with fine live music in Dublin.
  • Home of Guinness: A visit to Dublin isn’t complete without touring the Guinness Storehouse, where you can learn about the history of Ireland’s most famous beer and enjoy a pint with a panoramic view of the city. Let me personally assure you that, even if you have had Guinness elsewhere, the stuff they serve in Dublin is a whole different level.
  • Arts and music: Dublin has a lively arts scene, with traditional Irish music being a staple in many pubs. The city also hosts several theaters, including the Abbey Theatre, which was co-founded by W.B. Yeats.
  • Horses: If your love of gambling extends beyond just casinos, then Ireland will offer you plenty of opportunities to bet on horse racing too. It's a staple of Irish culture.
