Aristocrat Makes Top Slot Mo Mummy Available Online

Aristocrat has taken the hugely popular Mo Mummy land-based slot and made it available in online casinos as well.

Mo Mummy arrived on casino floors in 2023 and took a little while to capture the imagination of gamblers. However, it is now close to joining the likes of Dragon Link, Lightning Link, Huff N' Puff, and Buffalo in terms of popularity, making it a huge hit for Aristocrat Gaming.

“We are always looking for new ways to innovate at Aristocrat Interactive, bringing the best of land-based gaming into the digital space,” said Elena Jaacks, vice president of global customer success at Aristocrat Interactive.

“Through collaboration across the Aristocrat universe, we transform fan-favorite titles into elevated online experiences, ensuring players enjoy the excitement, engagement, and features they love—anytime, anywhere.”

“Anywhere” is a bit of a stretch for now, as it is initially launching online only in New Jersey. It is, however, already in online casinos in the UK and Ontario as well, and further expansion into other regulated territories is sure to follow.

There are actually two versions of the popular slot: Mighty Pyramid and Valley of Riches. That said, the only real differences are aesthetics. Mighty Pyramid, which is the version available online, features a male Egyptian pharaoh, while Valley of Riches has an Egyptian queen instead. In terms of gameplay, they are identical.

You also have to save some praise for the sheer personality of the game, with the mummy character wandering around, building piles of money out of his on-screen stash, and somehow managing to convey a very entertaining and endearing disdain for just about everything the player does.

Difficult Balance to Find

With the slow rollout of regulated online casinos across the US, slot providers have an enormous new market to explore. However, the casino floor is still sacrosanct to many, and part of the thrill of traveling to a Las Vegas or Atlantic City casino is being able to play games that you can’t online.

Slowly, though, some crossovers are starting to emerge. Light & Wonder, for example, has made Cash Falls available to online casinos, while IGT has done the same with Regal Riches and other titles.

Aristocrat, meanwhile, has dabbled by making some Buffalo games available online in certain territories, but it has tended to be older versions that have largely run past their peak days on the casino floor.

That makes the decision to release Mo Mummy—a current favorite—online a significant one, and it will be interesting to see if it’s a one-off or part of a new strategy.

Social Casinos Paving the Way

What we also may be seeing is the influence of social casinos as a testing ground. Although the biggest slot providers have so far been reluctant to release their top land-based titles on iGaming platforms, they have been available in social casinos.

For example, you can play Dragon Link and many other Aristocrat games in the Lightning Link Casino app, and Huff N' More Puff, Money Link, Lock It Link, and plenty of others in the Quick Hits Casino app.

Meanwhile, IGT and Konami have a strong partnership with MGM’s myVegas social casino app, meaning you can use that to play titles such as All Aboard and Wheel of Fortune Cash Link on your phone and other devices—albeit without the opportunity to win real money.

What we are seeing now with Mo Mummy may well be a case of companies testing the waters on social casinos and seeing no real drop-off in the popularity of their games on the casino floor itself. Future trends should tell us one way or another.
