9 Pots of Gold King Millions Slot

Well, what can be said about the slot game 9 Pots of Gold King Millions that hasn’t already been said about the other 1,000 games that appear in the same 9 Pots of Gold slot series? Will it finally be a refreshing new game idea that is different from the previous ones? Or, as I suspect, will the new game be no different apart from one random feature referring to the King Millions?

This series is perhaps the most monotonous one ever created, and it shouldn’t be when you look at the award-winning developers behind it all. Microgaming and Gameburger are brilliant masters of the video slots. But seriously, they test my patience. 

These are the current crop of slots attached to this never-ending rehash series called 9 Pots of Gold: 9 Pots of Gold™, 9 Pots of Gold Megaways, 9 Pots of Gold Hyper Spins, 9 Pots of Gold Roulette, 9 Pots of Gold Mining, Fishin’ Pots of Gold, Fishin’ Christmas Pots of Gold, Fishin’ Bigger Pots of Gold, Fishin’ Pots of Gold: Gold Blitz… and that brings us to the newest release 9 Pots of Gold King Millions.

For the remainder of this review, the game will simply be called King Millions.

King Millions is an Irish-themed slot that plays on a grid with three rows and three reels. Above reels 1 and 2, there is a Grand jackpot counter. Above reels 4 and 5, there is a Major jackpot counter. Central is the King Millions pot.

To the left of the reels, which is standard for this series, you have the game’s jackpot pay table, which highlights what you win based on the number of Epic Strike symbols (gold pot) that you land in play—the jackpot pay table charts the values of matching symbols from three up to nine. 

Throughout the game, there are some random animated gold coins flying around and making stupid noises. You will have to ignore this and put the game on mute. So far, the only real difference is that of the King Millions feature. Surprise, surprise. I don’t want to say I told you so, but it becomes somewhat predictable when you get this game rehashed so many times.

King Millions is not a complicated game. The demo is embedded into this review so you can see for yourself how easy it is to play. If you have played other Pots of Gold games, then you will already be a master of this. If not, then begin the game by setting your bet amount. Tap on the Bet icon and find a value that suits your budget. Remember, this is the price per spin, and the cost starts at $0.20 and increases to $120 per spin. It's always a good idea to decide on a budget in advance and stick to it. This slots money management strategy can help you minimize losses.

When you have set your price limit, tap the purple spin button or opt for the autoplay option next to it. To form a win from a spin, you need to land 3, 4, or 5 of the same symbols on one of the game’s 20 paylines. The patterns of these paylines can be found in the game’s information icon or paytable.

The symbols featured in this game include a toadstool as the Wild symbol. You have 777s, 77s, 7, harp, hat, clover, and BAR. You also have the Free Spins scatter symbol, which triggers the game’s bonus round feature.

There are three main bonus features I need to discuss: the King Millions Bonus, Epic Strike, and Free Spins. 

King Millions: This feature plays on a bonus wheel and is triggered by the eruption of the Kings Millions pot (above the 3rd reel). This feature can be activated on any spin played and even within the free spins bonus. The King Millions Bonus Wheel will allow you to win one of the two jackpots, Grand and Major. These are progressive jackpots with values that continue to grow until they are won.

Epic Strike: If you land three or more Epic Strike symbols, you will receive the payout on the jackpot table. The value of this prize increases the more you add to your bet per spin. At the maximum cost of $120 per play, you could hit $240,000 for landing nine Epic Strike symbols.

Free Spins: The Free Spin symbols will only land on reels 2, 3, and 4. Getting three of these launched the bonus round, where you will be awarded one spin on the bonus wheel. This wheel carries sections made up of spins and multipliers. Once the round of play starts, it is possible to retrigger more free spins.

Now, my annoyance with this series is evident. That said, 9 Pots of Gold is a great game. This issue I have is that every new release comes with the most minor of tweaks. I’d rather the series take on a whole new direction. This is why I was not surprised by the King Millions version being the only new feature; everything else is a repeat of the games that preceded this.

If this is the first game in the series you play, then you will love it. If, like me, you have played the other games, then you will likely shrug and think, well, at least the newly added jackpot is something, another potential reward. 

I played King Millions with $2.00 per spin and 50 spins. During this, I landed a few low-valued Epic Strikes. I didn’t strike any bonus features, and in the end, my balance was a little lower than what I started on. 

The RTP score of this game is low. It comes in at 86%, about 10% lower than standard slots. This is all because of the progressive jackpot. When millions can be won, the RTP massively drops. 

Now, the surprising factor is that the volatility setting is low. This rarely happens with progressive slots. As our slot volatility guide explains, this is essentially a performance score, and it tells us that wins can be frequent. Now, their value is another matter. 

What can potentially be won? Well, the progressive jackpots climb till they are won. The Grand jackpot starts at $2,542,123.19. The Major jackpot starts at $1,271,061.59. When it comes to the standard game, relative to the amount you pay per spin, the greatest single return is off 9 Epic Strike symbols that payout $240,000 on $120 per spin.

9 Pots of Gold King Millions is a good game. It’s just annoying that the developers are producing something new. This game should have been the only game if this is the best one. But anyway, I am more than sure there will be another Pot of Gold game in the future.
