As I’ve mentioned in the intro to this Coin Blox review, the slot has all the visual flair I have come to associate with Peter & Sons. The reels are positioned on the side of a mountain, which is brought to life with the kind of playful animation style you would expect to see from a Nintendo game. 

A giant animated spider makes its way around the mountain while a cute little house sits just off in the distance. The game then mixes things up further when you trigger the bonus game, with a playful goblin creature appearing and the reels being transported to a bigger mountain.

The game’s theme centers around a goblin kingdom ruling over all of the titular coins, with players attempting to get their hands on them. 

Overall, it’s an easy design to fall in love with, especially if, like me, you have a particular penchant for video and arcade games. 

Despite some innovative bonus features, Coin Blox keeps its base game straightforward. The action takes place on an enhanced 6x6 game grid with 25 active paylines on every spin. Winning combinations are formed when players land three or more matching symbols across a payline. 

Much of the action in the Coin Blox slot is centered around its bonus features. The first you are likely to encounter are the Monster Blocks. These are oversized symbols that can land on any spin. They can be sized between 2x2 and 6x6 and count as individual instances of their symbol. 

Synced blocks can land to help increase the chances of a win with these. When this happens, all Monster Blocks transform into the same symbol. 

The Coin Blox Free Spins bonus is triggered when you land five or more Lighter FS symbols. The number of free spins rewarded is random. Additional Monster Block symbols called Coin Blox are added to the grid during the round. These will display instant-win coin prizes, with a little goblin appearing under the reels to collect them as they fall. Each additional FS symbol that lands will add another spin. 

Landing five or more of the Key symbols will trigger the Bonus Game. In this round, the game moves to a different screen, with traditional symbols removed from the grid and additional locked grid tiers added above the reels. All that can land is coins, keys, and blanks.

I had a fantastic time taking Coin Blox for a spin for the purpose of this review. The game’s quirky design looks brilliant on both desktop and mobile devices, with no discernible differences in gameplay when switching to the smaller screen. 

The Coin Blox demo that I took for a spin allowed me to wager between $0.20 and $50, which is a solid betting range. 

I recommend making use of the Buy Bonus features when testing the demo. This will allow you to sample the game’s bonuses before you play for real money and adjust to some of their more innovative elements.
