Do you know what the world needs right about now? It’s not peace or harmony. There’s no real need for conversations and aligned political beliefs from which humanity can collectively benefit. No. What the world needs right now is another Egyptian-themed slot game. Lucky for you, I’m giving you a front-row seat to this life-changing event.
The game, Dawn of Kings. The developer, Hacksaw Gaming. In this review, I expose all the software programming and the game's performance, from bonus features to what can potentially be won. I will be playing this game firsthand and sharing my experience, and you can also access the same game.
As with all free slot reviews at Casinos.com, official demos are provided to readers who can play the slot for free through any device without downloads.
Dawn of Kings is an Egyptian-themed slot game, and it’s not the first time the developer has tapped into this genre. Temple of Torment, undead Fortune, and Hand of Anubis are the others that gave players a time travel trip back to ancient Egypt.
So, just how different is Dawn of Kings when compared to all other billion games in this category? Well, to be fair, it’s not a game-changer by any means. I’ve said it more than once, and I’ll keep saying it. If you want to play the best casino game that is set in ancient Egypt, then you have to play Max Quest: Wrath of Ra.
So, with Dawn of Kings, you have an underground tomb or crypt setting. The layout of the slot is a 3x5 grid, and the game’s character, who is not a Lara Croft rip-off, stands to the right of the reels with her flaming torch in one hand and map in the other. She’s definitely cute, and I think the off-the-shoulder shirt helps with the overall aesthetic.
Back to the game, and looks-wise, it’s average, and the sound of the game comes with eerie echoes of sinister water droplets. When the reels move, they do so with that sound of scrapping brick. This is possibly the quietest game I’ve ever come across, actually.
The slot comes with 13 paylines, which formulate wins based on matching symbols falling on adjacent reels from left to right.
Hacksaw makes more good games than bad ones, so despite my hate for the Egyptian genre, I was interested in seeing what Dawn of Kings had to offer.
First, set your bet. The game defaults at $2 per spin. Bets can be reduced to $0.10 per spin, or if you have a bigger budget to play with, you can make spins at a maximum of $100 per play. When you have set the amount to suit your game plan, then selecting the spin button will begin play. You can select to play with auto spins, the button next to the spin button.
To win, you need to match three, four, or five symbols on any of the paylines. The highest-paying symbols are the Scarab beetle, the cat god-pharaoh-thing, the Anubis, Horus, and the hot chick that is definitely not a Lara Croft rip-off.
These are the basics of play. It’s not rocket science, but there are other ways to win money, which I touch on in the section below titled Dawn of Kings Slot Free Spins, Bonus Features & Bonus Buy, in bold font.
With Dawn of Kings, you have the following features that help towards improving chance and opportunity. These are known as the bonus games.
The game comes with a Buy Bonus slots feature that allows players to bypass the main game and jump right into the bonus rounds. It’s both costly and risky despite it seeming like a fast route to fortunes.
Hacksaw makes more good games than bad ones, so despite my hate for the Egyptian genre, I was interested in seeing what Dawn of Kings had to offer. I played this game in its demo mode as my regular online casino didn’t have the game yet. I set the demo to $2 per spin and played 50 free spins.
At the end of my 50 spins, I didn’t win too much. One big $20 win, and in the end, I roughly broke even. It’s kind of what I expected, seeing how the game is programmed. But essentially, it was nothing special. Seeing as nothing happened, I opted to try the Book of Dawn bonus via the Buy Bonus feature. This cost $200 in free gaming money.
With this, the game comes to life, with an animated action sequence of the book opening and the hot chick revealing the map she is holding. During play, I won four more free spins and won a total of $99.80, thanks to triggering the special symbol feature that turned three reels into all the same symbol.
It was okay, but for the first eight spins out of the 10, I won nothing. Still, I am also $100+ down on what the round costs.
The RTP of Dawn of Kings is 96.24%. The game comes with a medium volatility setting, which is more than likely why I broke even during the practice of the game. The maximum that can be won is 10,000 times your bet. That means spinning the reels at $100 a go could land you a $1 million payout.
The game summed up in one word: Meh. If I was to choose two words, I’d just probably shrug. It’s not ground-breaking, and it’s not going to win Game of the Year, and it’s not that good value for money. If you think that you can play progressive jackpots for less and win more, I know what game I’d pick.
It will have its fans, I’m sure, but for me, you’re better off playing these games: Mega Moolah Megaways by GameBurger/Games Global, The Goonies Return by Blueprint Gaming, and Age of the Gods: Prince of Olympus by Playtech.
Check these games out for free in their demo mode and use the reviews to find the best casinos online to play them as real money casino games.

Dawn of Kings was released by Hacksaw Gaming on March 7, 2024. This game already follows several releases this year, which include the fighting game Fist of Destruction and the cyber oddity that is Beam Boys. You can find the reviews here at Casinos.com.
The game does come with a selection of free spin bonuses. Depending on the number of scatter symbols you land during the base game will determine how many free spins you are awarded. During the round of play, further spins can be won.
Dawn of Kings comes with a Buy Bonus feature. You can take your pick of buying any seven different bonuses or features. However, this is a costly pursuit that doesn’t actually guarantee the success you would need just to cover the costs of this feature.
