Devil's Crossroad Slot

Fewer things excite me as a slot reviewer as much as a new Nolimit City online slot game. The company has proven itself to be one of the most creative developers in the industry time and time again, putting its unique spin on sinister themes and bringing them to life with innovative gameplay mechanics. 

This time, they have dived into the depths of hell, inviting players to meet the devil himself and to see what temptations he can present them at top casinos. The Devil’s Crossroad uses a set of unique gameplay mechanics, but does it live up to the high bar set by other Nolimit City slots? I’m going to find out in this Devil’s Crossroad slot review. 

The Devil’s Crossroad slot's design and layout are striking for several reasons. First, Nolimit City has been creative in the design of the slot, with the symbols set inside a giant hole that has opened up in the middle of a road. 

A battered car sits to the side of the hole, which appears to be a literal representation of the Devil’s Crossroad. The Devil himself sits in the middle of the game grid, surrounded by bankers, gamers, and strippers. It’s a very bold design, but I would expect nothing less from the studio that developed titles like Karen Maneater and Walk of Shame. 

Next, onto the reels, or in this case, the lack of reels. The game grid is split into four lines, which meet in the middle at the devil. Each of these cross-sections features four symbols that lead to the devil. It creates a unique image and certainly helps the game stand out from other top online slots. 

As I’ve already mentioned in this Devil’s Crossroad review, the layout of the game grid is very unique. However, don’t let this fool you; the game is still simple to play once you have gotten to grips with it. 

Whenever players land a win of three or more matching symbols across the aforementioned cross sections, winning symbols are removed, and symbols fall inwards towards the Devil. When this happens, the Devil may also turn one of the symbols falling towards him into a Wild, often prompting further winning combinations. 

Outside of the unique gameplay mechanics, all standard gameplay features and controls are present and correct, with the spin button, stake options, and gameplay menu in the bottom left-hand corner.

Nolimit City slots are not just famous for their sinister themes — the company also has an excellent record regarding bonus features. Devil’s Crossroad doesn’t boast quite as many as some of the developer’s other games, but there was still plenty here that I really enjoyed. 

Firstly, whenever players land a win, any matching symbols that are not involved in that combination are removed, and a cross-section multiplier is added. This then increases by one every time this happens in subsequent tumbles. 

It is also possible to remove a symbol type from a tumble sequence altogether. This happens when you land a Scatter next to the Devil. All remaining symbols in the Scatter’s section are inactive and removed from other cross sections for subsequent tumbles. The multiplier also increases by one in this instance. 

The main bonus in the game is the Redemption Spins. This is triggered by landing four scatters, taking players to a new reel set. It is a respin-style bonus similar to the type you would find in a game like Money Train 4. Players are given three spins, which will reset every time a coin lands on the reels. Each coin will display a multiplier value. 

As well as coins, modifiers can also be triggered in this round. This happens when you fill a column with the modifier and then impact all of the coins in its column. The following modifiers are available: 

• Gluttony - Increases the value of all coins. 
• Wrath - Increases the value of a randomly selected coin. 
• Lust - Adds another level on the upgrade meter. 
• Greed - One coin is selected to be boosted by the value of all other coins. 
• Envy - Changes one coin's value to the highest coin on the reels. 
• Pride - The value of one coin is selected and added to all other coins. 

As I’ve mentioned, there is an upgrade meter in the game. When you trigger the Lust modifier, you can upgrade one level, or for each Scatter that lands next to the Devil in the base game, the meter is also upgraded. When you upgrade the Redemption Spins, you will be rewarded with a modifier for filling rows, not just columns. There is also a Devil symbol, which can instantly trigger a modifier on its respective column. 

Players also have the chance to trigger the Redemption Spins using the Buy Bonus slots feature for 80x their stake. You can upgrade them for 500x. 

As with all Nolimit City slots, Devil’s Crossroad can initially feel a little overwhelming. The game’s design is very unique, and I had to ensure I had read through everything carefully before I started playing. 

Once it got going, though, I had an excellent time playing the Devil’s Crossroad slot, with the game’s design being a lot of fun and the gameplay feeling very unique. 

I would recommend playing the game for free before you play for real money. Playing the demo will give you the chance to ensure you fully understand the game before you part ways with your cash. 

Speaking of real money, the game can be played for stakes between $0.20 and $200, which is an excellent range. 

The unique design of the game also lent itself nicely to mobile play. The layout of the grid worked well on my mobile, and I also had the same experience when I tested it on my tablet. 

Nolimit City slots are always packed with some winning potential, and Devil’s Crossroad was no different. The slot is highly volatile, which was reflected in my own experiences, while the RTP is 96.06%, which is around average. The maximum win is 13,180x, which is great, though smaller than some Nolimit City titles. 

Nolimit City is one of the most creative developers in the industry, and I found that creativity to be on full display once again with the Devil’s Crossroad slot. The innovative base game instantly stands out, and the design is as anarchic as I have come to expect from the developer. 

In terms of bonuses, the slot feels like one of the company’s more dialed-back offerings, with the Redemption Spins being the only real bonus round. This is more in line with secondary offerings from the company like True Kult or Road Rage. That is not to say the game isn’t great, but that it is slightly less so than some of the developer’s biggest games. 

Overall, Devil’s Crossroad is a slot I am 100% happy to recommend to players, especially if they are looking for something that breaks the mold of traditional slot structures and gameplay at the best slot sites.
