The fight between good and evil has been a focal point of many movies, books, and games. In fact, it’s easy to say that it’s always the main premise of any book or movie niche unless you’re seeing a romantic comedy (and even then!). Manga-style comic books and animated movies often pit characters of light and darkness against each other, just as Octoplay did with its Eternal Clash online slot.
If you’re a fan of RPG video games, you’re going to love what this slot has to offer. The medium volatile bonanza has 25 paylines, but the specs don’t matter as soon as you reach the bonus round. Octoplay did a fantastic job with its innovative battle mechanics, which could easily pass for a video game.
The protectors of the light will engage in a battle to the death against the bloodthirsty beasts. It’s literally like a video game – spin to defeat your opponent’s health bar and win hefty prizes for it. Read more in my Eternal Clash review and try the slot for free here on Casinos.com.
The Eternal Clash slot has a straightforward layout that’s easy to read. Everyone knows how important a user-friendly layout is for RPG games. Despite being a slot, this user-friendly design shines in the bonus round, where you do all the heavy lifting.
Visually, the slot looks great. It’s inspired by the manga art style often used in comics and animation. I love that there’s a story behind the slot, so it’s not just style. The warriors of the light are named Arcanos, Crimerra, and Gaia, and they’re going into battle against an evil bunch of monsters, one of which is named Corruptus. Epic.
The soundtrack in the background nicely sets the tone for the action. I have to congratulate the studio for the on-point sound effects, which pick up steam as you keep hitting wins.
I’ve seen similar slots with similar mechanics before, but none come as close to RPG video games as Eternal Clash.
You’ll need to place a bet to start the eternal clash between good and evil. Choose from 10c to $80 per spin and click on the spin button. You need three plus matching symbols on an active payline for a win. The main characters pay up to 20x for six on a line, while the lower-paying sacred tablets pay a max. of 8x.
Wild swords can substitute for all symbols and may often land with multipliers. These wilds land in 1x4 sizes, and if a few appear and are part of a win, their values combine.
The main characters land in stacks. When you feel a reel with one of them, the three top symbols unite. These big symbols always carry an x2 multiplier applied to all wins that involve them.
There’s nothing else to talk about in the base game. This is a slot where the full focus is on the epic battle in the bonus round.
Land three scatters, and you’ll trigger the eternal battle. Instead of a free spin round, the showdown spins put Gaia, Arcanos, and Crimerra in a deadly battle against the monsters. Three scatters give you 1,000 health points (HP), while every additional scatter adds 500 extra (max. of 2,500 HP).
Once the bonus starts, the grid changes to a 6x1 layout. The allied warriors are on the left, the monsters on the right. The closest characters fight first, then continue to the left. Each of the characters has a special attack power that can eliminate a portion of the opponent’s health bar.
The enemies carry cash prizes, which are awarded when you kill them. Swords can land on the reels and buff up the warriors of light abilities. The first sword adds +50 attack power, the second adds +110 and an x2 multiplier, while the third sword boosts attack power by 250 and carries an x55 multiplier. Spins with nothing but allied characters increase their power by +5, but spins with only the monsters on the reels eat away at your health bar.
Here’s the attack of all the characters during the battle:
Let’s put things into perspective. For example, if you land Crimerra and Gilsbane on the reels, she will defeat him right away. If it’s a situation of 2 vs. 1, the side with more attacking power wins. The bonus will continue until your health bar reaches zero. This can happen quickly if Corruptus or Blazethorn land often, as they do a lot of damage.
You can activate the buy bonus round but for a hefty price of 250x. This increases the RTP slightly, giving you a decent fighting chance.
I loved my time with the Eternal Clash slot. Why? Because it’s different than the rest. It plays like an RTP video game (and a good one at that) while offering an excellent winning potential. I was eager to get it started, so I fired it up and started with a bet of $1.
The base game itself was rewarding and fun to play because I’ve managed to ally the main characters often. Those x2 multipliers delivered solid wins across the board. However, I was intrigued by the bonus round and was on the hunt for it from the first spin. It took around 50 with no bonus, so I made the hard decision to pay a whopping 250x for it.
It paid off after; I don’t know how many spins, but they went for a good ten minutes or so. The forces of light defeated the monsters with a total haul of 270x. Not a big profit, but I’ll take it.
Eternal Clash is a medium volatile slot with an RTP of 95.70% (95.77% when using the buy bonus option). The maximum you can win is 12,000x the bet.
If you like an innovative slot with great winning potential, look no further than Eternal Clash. I’ve seen similar slots with similar mechanics before, but none come as close to RPG video games as Eternal Clash. It’s fun to play despite the fact it’s hard to get to the bonus round. Paying for it might be worth it, although there are no guarantees once you get inside.
Still, it’s a fun and distinct slot that puts Octoplay in the category of the most exciting developers on the top online casino market. Don't miss this one if you’re looking for an anime RTP slot game.
The closest slot I can think of as an alternative is Play’n GO’s Moon Princess Power of Love. However, it’s close in style only and not in the gameplay features. Mochimon by Pragmatic Play is a solid alternative, too, if you’re a fan of manga. You’ll find both available at the top online casinos.
