Thematically, Freya Valhalla Queen keeps things very simple. The title basically tells us everything we need to know about the story, with the slot not offering any sort of further tale for us to indulge in. 

I found the game’s design to be fine, but as far as representations of Valhalla go, this slot doesn’t offer anything particularly new or striking. In fact, the castle in the background of the reels could be anywhere, serving up very little of the drama and excitement that I would typically associate with Valhalla. 

However, the game does liven up a little by switching screens when you trigger the bonus rounds. I enjoyed the background for the Battle Free Spins and preferred the slot to use for the base game. 

The reel design immediately grabbed my attention, with one big reel displaying three symbols sitting at the end of four other reels, each of which displayed four. 

The unique game grid of Freya Valhalla Queen immediately caught my attention, but as it turns out, the slot doesn’t differ too much in terms of game action. There are five reels, with one of them displaying three symbols and the other four displaying four. 

This leaves just eight paylines on each spin, with winning combinations paying when players land three or more matching symbols across one of them. 

I found that the Freya Valhalla Queen really sprung to life with its bonus features. The first one I should mention is the Freya Symbol. Freya can appear as a big symbol throughout the base game. She can appear 3x3, 3x4, or 4x4 on reels 2-5. If you land her with a single Freya symbol on the first reel, it can lead to a win. Alternatively, landing a full 4x4 Freya will lead to a 125x payout. 

Even better than that, though, is the Freya Jackpot. This is worth 20,000x your stake and is paid out if you land a 4x4 Freya on reels 2-5 and have reel one full of Freya symbols. 

Landing a Scatter on reel one, along with a minimum of four on the other four reels, will trigger the Free Spins round. The number of spins corresponds with the number of triggering symbols, with 19 being the maximum. 

Players get the choice between Magic Free Spins and Battle Free Spins. Regardless of which round you trigger, during the spins, Rune Symbols are collectible and are collected if Freya lands on reel one. A Multiplier can be applied up to 10x depending on Freya’s size on the reel.

In the Magic Free Spins bonus, Rune Symbols are collected on a wheel, with additional spins being played out if you fill the reel. 

In Battle Free Spins, a Multiplier is collected every time a Battle symbol lands. This is then paid out at the end of the round.

I tested the Freya Valhalla Queen slot on my laptop using Google Chrome and Safari and on an iPhone using Chrome. I had a great experience using all of them, with the game having no problem making the switch. The simple design means that you are not losing much when you switch to a smaller screen size.
