The provider’s new slot, Gold Boom, is a twenty-payline spinner that features a traditional 5x3 setup, high volatility, and a max win of 5,650x. The Gold Boom slot does not look to reinvent the wheel. It has the most common slot layout ever–the classic 5x3 setup. There are 20 paylines, and visually, the slot will remind you of games like Diamond Mine Megaways by Blueprint and 5k Gold Mine Dream Drop by 4ThePlayer. It also has the staple bearded miner character, and its gaming action takes place in a dark mine illuminated by oil lanterns.

The title’s graphics are painterly and cartoonish, and you get an old-timey banjo-style tune that goes perfectly with the lighthearted visuals. I also quite liked the miner animations, with this jolly old man reacting to the grid goings-on in various ways, enhancing the degree of charm this title boasts.

Playing the Gold Boom slot is easy. You start by pressing the three-bar icon above the spin button–a circular arrow to the main character's right. Doing this will pull out the game’s bet selector, where you can pick a stake size, choosing between this product’s lowest wager option of 20c to its highest of $40 per spin.

As in most other slots, you win prizes by hitting three to five matching symbols on the defined (twenty) paylines. These pay left to right, paying out rewards only when tokens land on adjacent reels. The six card royals in Gold Boom pay up to x2 for five-of-a-kind combinations, while the image premiums produce wins up to x10. 

You also get a golden nugget scatter and a dynamite wild in this spinner. These symbols generate prizes of x50 for five instances of each materializing in view at the end of a gaming round.

Let me get into the bonus features of Gold Boom. First, you have mine carts. Five types of these symbols appear in this spinner at random, above the rightmost reel.

You must hit a wild dynamite stack beneath them (a wild) to trigger its prize, which can be scatter/s, multipliers, wild reels, walking wilds, and letters for the Collection Prize game. The latter involves forming the following words - MINI, MINOR, MAJOR, or GRAND, to snag a reward of up to 2,500x your stake.

Hitting three or more scatters in the Gold Boom slot activates the free spins feature. Before this mode starts, a wheel spins, awarding one to four free spin features. You also get a mine cart above every reel at the beginning of this bonus.

Oh, and if you like slots with Bonus Buy, you'll enjoy this one. It gives you the option to buy free spins for fifty times your stake, and you can also get an extra feature spin at the end of this round for a distinct cost.

Without question, Slingshot Studios’ Gold Boom has buckets of charm, but it’s somewhat of a reskin of Rabbit in the Hat 2 by this same provider. That is not necessarily a bad thing - I’m just stating facts. In truth, I did not win sizable prizes playing this slot, but I did have a decent time.

I’m not going to lie to you and tell you this is the best mining-themed game out there. But it is okay, and the presentation makes up for the unnecessary complexity of the bonus features added here, which is something I’m sure some novices will not appreciate. For its target audience, I thought this title should have been a tad simpler to enjoy.

The RTP in the Gold Boom slot can range from 92.12% to 96.14%. Most online casinos will have this game set at 96.14%, a decent figure for a highly volatile slot. Gold Boom’s maximum projected win is 5,650x your stake, which is also respectable.

Gold Boom is a variation of Slingshot Studios’ Rabbit in the Hat 2. It has quality visuals, decent specs, and various bonus features that should keep gamblers engaged for longer periods. However, I have read complaints online that this title is too similar to its predecessor, except it features a novel presentation.

While those claims are indeed accurate, I did not mind that here. This was a pretty cool refresh and a more than acceptable reel-spinning product from Slingshot Studios, available at most Games Global-partnered casinos.
