Well, it has been a while since this Temu Indian Jones showed his face around the online casinos. The Pragmatic Play knock-off of Play’n GO’s Rich Wilde sees the return of its one-dimensional character in the John Hunter and Galileo’s Secrets slot. Sounding like a tabloid hit piece, I’m unconvinced that digging up the past of a 400-year-old philosopher, physicist, and inventor would arouse much intrigue, but here we are.
For those unaware of Galileo and who he is, long story short, he invented the term peeping-tom and philosophized over wealth disparity, mainly amongst the poor from poor families. Well, “easy come, easy go,” as he used to say.
I will be reviewing this game with little hope that it adds anything to the series, which is now on its tenth game. With this review, you can also access the free demo and find out which of the best casinos are hosting it as a real money casino game.
The John Hunter and Galileo’s Secrets takes us inside a recreated loft conversion that resembles nothing like where Galileo lived, worked, and studied. John Hunter also looks a bit like a young John Travolta, which is possibly the most interesting thing about the slot’s design. For those unaware of who John Travolta is, he invented acting and often made shoes for ants.
The layout of the game presents 3 rows and 5 reels. There are ten paylines, and the game offers a Buy and Super Buy feature. It's pretty much the same as 90% of all Pragmatic Play slots.
I’ve seen blank sheets of paper that are more energetic than this game. It’s a total failure, and I wouldn’t be surprised if some bright spark at Pragmatic Play is already drafting up the next ten sequels on the back of a napkin.
To operate the slot John Hunter and Galileo’s Secrets, first place the key into the ignition. Next, you will set the level you wish to bet per spin. This game has a minimum bet requirement of $0.10, and the value increases to a maximum bet price of $250. With your bet value set, press in on the clutch to move the gear. You can now press the spin button to start playing the game.
Winning comes about by landing two or more of the top three symbols—John Hunter, Globe, and Sand Timer, or three or more of the mid and lower-valued symbols—Telescope, Scroll, Ink Quill, A, K, Q, and J. These must fall onto one of the ten paylines the game hosts.
It’s simple gameplay, which covers the base game dynamic. You spin the reels, hope for a win, and spin again. Fear not, though, as the slot does present limited opportunities to win via special features and a bonus round.
The special features in John Hunter and Galileo's Secrets are nothing I haven't seen before from Pragmatic Play. Let's get an in-depth look:
This golden symbol is a full reel symbol that has the power to transform into a standard pay symbol or a money symbol. If in the case of being a money symbol, you can also trigger the Respin feature.
Past games in this series haven’t exactly lit my fire, and what you get from John Hunter and Galileo’s Secrets is pretty much the same as the rest that came before it. I look to reserve my funds for games I know will be better, so I took this slot on with only $0.50 bets per spin. I also picked 50 autoplay spins from which to cast my judgment.
The game was fairly dull throughout and the music was nauseating. The first win came on spin five, winning me $4. This was then followed by a few minor payouts of less than $1 each. The hit rate was pretty consistent and this will appeal to many players who like games to perform like low volatility slots.
With half the spins played, I was less than $8 off from breaking even. Most of the wins were still below the $1 mark. Into the last ten spins a few Mystery Symbols landed with no wins following them. The 50 spins ended, and I was left wondering what the secrets of Galileo were because what I just experienced was about as fun as jumping into an active volcano.
As usual, the John Hunter and Galileo’s Secrets slot from Pragmatic Play has a high volatility program. The RTP is a standard 96.50%, and the maximum winnable payout is 5,000x the sum of your bet. If betting an eye-watering $250 per spin, you could win a jackpot of $1,250,000!
I’m left wondering what the purpose of the John Hunter and Galileo’s Secrets slot is. There is no thought-out concept. I’m not too sure what the idea is and where this slot was trying to go. I’ve seen blank sheets of paper that are more energetic than this game. It’s a total failure, and I wouldn’t be surprised if some bright spark at Pragmatic Play is already drafting up the next ten sequels on the back of a napkin.
