As I mentioned in the introduction to this Knights of the Golden Egg slot review, the slot takes place in a fantasy kingdom ruled by chickens. This kingdom is brought to life with playful cartoon graphics, with each of the chickens appearing on the reel as a bonus symbol of sorts. Aside from this, the slot has a few little animations that occur during certain gameplay sequences to help inject some life, as well as an upbeat soundtrack. 

The base game in the Knights of the Golden Egg uses five-reels, with a 3-4-5-4-3 set-up. There are 720 ways to win on each spin, with players required to land matching combinations of three or more on consecutive reels, starting on the leftmost reel. 

The slot’s controls are to the right of the game grid. The +/- button controls the stake, while players can hit the autoplay feature by clicking the two arrows chasing one another. You will also find the paytable here. 

Much of the action in the Knights of the Golden Egg game is based on the features associated with the three knights.

Eventually, I got lucky, and there were three consecutive spins in a row where the Express Collect feature played out. This led to an 8x win, a 12x win, and a 6x win. I triggered this feature once during my session, with this paying out a 4x win. Overall, I finished the round slightly down. 

In my experience, the game appeared very volatile, with wins being few and far between. The constant teasing of bonus features does add plenty of excitement, but you often end up feeling very disappointed with the outcome. 

Knights of the Golden Egg has a mixed math model. The RTP is impressive at 96.24%, and the high volatility is going to appeal to some players. However, the slot is let down by a disappointing maximum win of 3,000x your stake. 

Knights of the Golden Egg deserves some credit for trying to put a slightly different spin on the collection-style mechanics that have swept the industry in recent years.
