The design of Mega Magic Spell is nice and simple, with the reels being set inside some sort of Wizard’s house. There is gold scattered around the grid, with the four jackpots displayed in giant pots just to the left of the action. 

I thought the base game theme and design were okay, with the graphics being relatively sharp and a few nice animations bringing certain mechanics to life. However, I think the decision to switch to a blurred blue screen during the Free Spins bonus does take away from the visuals. The game ends up looking a little generic, which is a shame because there are a lot of different routes you can take with a magic-themed slot to spice things up when you trigger a slot bonus. 

Mega Magic Spell keeps things fairly simple in the base game. The slot uses five reels and four rows, with 20 fixed paylines on every spin. 

Wins are formed when players land three or more matching symbols across a payline, starting on the leftmost reel. 

The control panel for the game is on the right-hand side of the grid, with players being able to adjust the stake, set the auto spin, and speed up the action with turbo spin. 

As a smaller studio, Hammertime Games had the opportunity to make itself stand out with the Mega Magic Spell’s bonus features. Unfortunately, the provider has opted to play things safe, serving up three main bonus features, all of which are fairly generic. 

Players can win one of four jackpots in the game, and this is done by randomly landing the corresponding Jackpot symbol on the reels. The jackpots are the Mini, Minor, Major, and Mega, and they can pay out 5-50x, 10-100x, 20-500x, and 100x-5,000x, respectively. 

You should also keep your eyes peeled for Coin symbols. These can pay out up to 25x your bet. Coins only pay out if they land alongside a Collection Symbol on the fifth reel. 

Speaking of the Free Spins bonus, this is launched when you land the letters MAGIC on across the reels. Players are given ten spins, with additional Collection symbols added to the reel for the round. There are also two additional Collection symbols - the Adder Collection Symbol, which adds value to Coins, and the Multiplier Collection, which multiplies Coins. 

If you want to skip the queue and get straight into the Mega Magic Spell Free Spins round, you can do so for 45x your stake using the Buy Bonus option. 

I tested the Mega Magic Spell slot on my laptop and an iPhone and found the experience to be similar on both, with no notable lag or changes when making the jump to a mobile device. The game’s design keeps things fairly basic, so nothing significant changed on that front either. 

I found the game easy to understand and play, though I was not particularly impressed by its basic bonus features. If you want to take the game for a free spin, I’d recommend using the demo version provided and taking advantage of the Buy Bonus feature. 

The betting range is adjusted by clicking on the stack of coins icon on the right-hand side, with a minimum bet of $0.10 and a maximum of $50. This is a little restrictive compared to some slots, but I think it should still cover most budgets. 

The Mega Magic Spell’s biggest win is the Mega Jackpot, which can serve up to 5,000x your stake and can be won on any spin. While not a terrible amount, this is not likely to get too many players excited, with a lot of other top jackpot slots offering much bigger prizes. The slot is considered highly volatile and has an RTP of 96.08%, which is around average. 

Mega Magic Spell is a slot that doesn’t really live up to its name. The game, while capable of providing the occasional burst of excitement, keeps things fairly generic, serving up bonus features and wins that are available elsewhere in much more engaging titles. The jackpots being able to land on any spin was something that kept me engaged for a while, but the winning potential here never really felt like it lived up to the game’s name. 

If you are a fan of the Collection feature used in the game, I would recommend checking out Big Bass Bonanza or any of its spin-offs from Pragmatic Play. This utilizes the same bonus while providing much bigger wins. 

If it is the magic theme that attracts you to the game, I would recommend looking at Blood & Shadow from Nolimit City. Thematically, it deals with the darker side of magic, but it boasts some huge wins and an excellent selection of bonuses. Likewise, Hex from Relax Gaming serves up 25,000x wins and feels much more magical than Mega Magic Spell.
