Love the occult, witches, wizards, and dark and white magic? If that sounds like the perfect setting for you, the Moon Spell slot might be right up your magic alley. Developed by Red Tiger, it will put you under a spell with its medium volatile math model that works great with the 20 paylines. The most impressive thing about this slot is the visuals and animations, both of which are aimed at fans of the occult and unexplained.
The name gives the slot’s setting away. It takes place under a full moon at the witching hour. These hours take place anywhere between midnight and 3:00-4:00 AM and are associated with supernatural events. Most of those events have been linked to witches. But don’t worry – there’s no dark magic involved when spinning the Moon Spell online slot reels.
I believe it’s a bit sad to say that the slot doesn’t have as many magic features as one could hope for. There’s a prize ladder along with moon (money) symbols and a Hold & Respin feature. All three work great, but they’re not among the most innovative.
It’s still fun to play, though, if you’re a fan of the theme and setting rather than unique gameplay features. Read my Moon Spell review below and go ahead and try it for free at the best online slot sites with Red Tiger slots.
Moon Spell looks and feels pretty sharp to play. As usual with Red Tiger slot games, the graphics and animations are great, and the slot looks charming on all devices. The symbols are all symbolic. Many of them are associated with magic and witches, including the black cat, a full moon, a book of spells, and a talisman.
A fitting soundtrack can be heard in the background. The sound effects are right on point, picking up the pace when you hit consecutive wins or any of the money symbols.
Moon Spell was a fun slot, if a bit too predictive for my taste. It doesn’t bring anything new to the Hold & Win bonus, so it can be a bit boring.
The Moon Spell online slot game is easy to play. You will need to choose a bet first before you hit the spin button. Bets range from 10c to $20 per spin, so it’s suitable for any kind of player. I must say that the base game is standard – very much bread-and-butter. You need three or more symbols for a win, with wilds stepping in to complete winning combos. They also pay up to 1,000 if you’re lucky to land five on a line.
The only special feature in the Moon Spell slot game is the Hold & Win feature. We’ll talk more about it later, but it’s important to mention that it involves the Moon symbols. You need a specific number of these symbols to collect their prizes or trigger the Hold & Win bonus.
Moons can land in any position, and they carry values from 0.5x to 100x the bet. Landing three to four Moon symbols awards their combined value. Land more, and you trigger the all-important bonus.
You need five or more Moon symbols to trigger the Hold & Win bonus. It’s not as innovative as I hoped for, as it follows traditional Hold & Win-like features. The bonus round starts with three respins. All triggering Moons are now sticky on the reels, while the other positions go for a respin.
Each new Moon that lands resets the respins count to three. The round ends when you run out of respins or all grid positions have been filled with Moons. The combined value of all Moons is awarded at the end of the feature.
Right above the reels, you can see a prize ladder with moons and cash rewards. Land ten or more Moon symbols to win a prize according to the ladder. It comes in addition to the Moon symbols and their values. Ten moons pay 50x the bet, while the maximum of 15 Moons pays a solid 5,000x.
You’ll need to wait for the bonus trigger to try the Hold & Spin feature as there’s no bonus buy option.
Moon Spell was a fun slot, if a bit too predictive for my taste. It doesn’t bring anything new to the Hold & Win bonus, so it can be a bit boring. I started my adventure with a bet of $1 and saved for a few small Moon wins. The base game wasn’t impressive.
Triggering the bonus feature took around 25 spins, which was faster than I hoped. The slot bonus was way more productive than the base game thanks to constant retriggers. In the end, I walked away with a 64x prize which was solid as I didn’t spend that much getting there.
Moon Spell is a medium volatile slot game with an RTP of 95.76%, a typical figure for most Red Tiger slots. The maximum win is set at 5,224x the bet.
Moon Spell doesn’t manage to conjure anything innovative to get under the skin of most players. Sure, it has its charms, but the overused Hold & Win feature is a case of being there and done that. It simply adds nothing to the feature itself and/or the magic genre, so you might as well skip it.
If you’re looking for something a bit more enchanting, you have numerous options at the top online casino sites. One slot I can recommend is Games Global’s Mega Magic Spell. You can also try Pragmatic Play’s Voodoo Magic or Betsoft’s Alkemor’s Elements.

You can play the Moon Spell online slot for real money at the best online casinos with Red Tiger games. You’ll first need to register and make a deposit to start playing. Choose a bet and hit the spin button to play for those Moon rewards.
No, there’s no free spins round in the Moon Spell online slot. There’s a Hold & Win feature which is triggered with at least six Moons. The feature starts with three respins, with all new Moons turning sticky and resetting the respins counter. You can also win prizes per the ladder above the reels if you land ten or more Moons.
There’s no bonus buy option in the Moon Spell online slot. You will need to wait for your turn to trigger the feature and check out what it pays. Which is a shame, as sometimes you may not be so lucky and trigger it during your session.
The Moon Spell slot was released on October 17, 2024.
