The Play’n GO classic, Rise of Olympus, has just been updated to the Rise of Olympus Origins. The slot series involves the Greek gods Hades, Zeus, and Poseidon. With the word Origin in the title, one could assume that the developer was going to ‘change the script,’ but it looks like Rise of Olympus Origins is a game with very little difference from the original.
To help us all understand why a game like Rise of Olympus Origins needed to be made, I signed into my online casino and faced the game as a real money feature. This helped me discover the gaming dynamic, how well the game performs, what programming is embedded, and what gameplay features are available.
As with all free slot game reviews at Casinos.com, the official demo will be provided to players, so they can also play the game firsthand. The experience will help them decide if Rise of Olympus Origins is worth playing for real money.
This homage to Greek mythology comes with a familiar setup to the first Rise of Olympus slot. Set within the ethereal world, or what we now call the sky and clouds, the gods (in turn) stand on the floating rock to the right of the reels.
The slot has five rows and five reels and retains the Cluster Pays mechanism. To the left of the wheel is a familiar mechanism from the original game, the Wrath of Olympus. Above this, and new to the series, is the Power Indicator.

You need no understanding of the previous two games in this Play'n GO series, as they are all very similar. Once the game has loaded, set the bet value to an amount you can afford to pay per spin. Betting for this game starts at $0.10 and climbs to $100. Set bets to an amount you can afford and stick to that budget.
To begin the game, press the spin button, and you will see the symbols drop, not rotate, but drop. This is the Cascade mechanism. Symbols drop off and fall into the reels. Wins are produced by clustering the same symbols in rows, vertically or horizontally. The cluster must have three, four, or five symbols to be deemed a win.
The top symbol is the Wild coin (Pegasus). The gods Hades, Poseidon, and Zeus are the highest standard gaming symbols to land. Next is a mix of the three. Below these symbols are the Relic symbols: the helmet, the trident, and the bolt.
When a win is made, the symbols turn into a Wild coin. This can then prompt another win with the symbols on the reel, causing a chain reaction effect that allows multiple wins from one spin.
The title plays like other slots: you just press the spin button. Spin, and you might win, lose, and activate one of the special bonus features.
Hand of God: Win a God symbol to trigger each feature. Hades converts a single set of symbols. Poseidon adds one or two Wilds to the game. Zeus clears two sets of gaming symbols.
Power Indicator: Forming wins with Relic symbols helps charge the Power Indicator. Once charged, the corresponding God will impose their power on the game.
Wrath of Olympus: Powered by producing wins with mixed God symbols. When complete, you will activate a single free round where all Gods perform their powers on the slot. You will win the Free Spins bonus game if you clear the grid with this feature.
Clear Grid: You can clear the grid during the base game, and in doing so, you will win ten free spins.
Free Spins: If you clear the grid during the Free Spins bonus, you will win a payout that is 10,000x the value of your bet. Filling the meter also provides extra free spins to play.
I would not usually play the Rise of Olympus series, which is odd because the same gameplay can be found in Play’n GO’s Moon Princess series, which I love. Must be something to do with the anime-style drawings and the oh-so-short skirts. But anyway, I load the game and play 50 spins with each set at $2 bets per spin.
The first two spins were fantastic, leading to wins of $8. On spin 11, I did well again, but the game quickly became very dull. Many spins later, I finally landed the Poseidon feature, which didn’t have much bearing on winnings. That was until spin 38, in which I won $14. The Poseidon feature landed three more times with my remaining spins, but the results were disappointing.
The 50 spins ended with nothing to show for it, and I was left thinking the Rise of Olympus series should just end now.
Rise of Olympus Origins comes programmed with a high volatility setting. The Return to Player is 96.29%, and the max win is 20,000x the player’s bet. If you play at $100 per spin, that is a potential $2 million jackpot payout.
Rise of Olympus was a classic, Rise of Olympus 100 was okay, and Rise of Olympus Origins leaves you asking where this series is going. There are very few changes between games, maybe one or two subtle tweaks, but ultimately, the developer isn’t producing a game of significant change, ideas, or innovation. It’s a slot that didn’t need to be made.

The Rise of Olympus Origins slot machine was released on July 25, 2024, by Play’n GO. This game is a bit of a dud, but before this, they released better games like Dansband Pa Turne, Journey to Paris, and Rich Wilde and the Tome of Insanity. I recommend you check these games out in their free demo mode.
The main bonus in Rise of Olympus Origins is Free Spins. To activate this feature, you must clear the grid of all symbols except the Wilds. You will then be awarded ten free bonus spins. More spins can be won during play. Clear all symbols in the bonus, and you’ll win a payout worth 10,000x your bet.
The Return to Play (RTP) for Rise of Olympus Origins is 96.29%. This Return to Player scoring is based on millions of spins, which calculate what can potentially be won or paid back if x number of spins are played. But remember, it's not exact, as all wins are determined by luck.
