A few decades ago, when the online gambling industry was still making baby steps, horse and stallion-themed slot games were a big thing. Interest in them has kind of died down over the years. But, thanks to the efforts of Just For The Win and Games Global, this particular niche is revived with the release of Stallion Kingdom.
This powerful steed of a slot impressed me with its authenticity and the easy learning curve. It’s a highly volatile game with 30 paylines and various animals on the reels. The stallion is the most important of them all, although you do get other iconic American animals, including an eagle, a mountain lion, and a fox.
The slot’s key features include jackpots and multipliers. The gameplay is straightforward for big stretches until the features kick in. It’s not that we haven’t seen the features on offer in the top JFTW slot games. Coin collections, free spins, and super free spins all make for an exciting and rewarding experience. Read my Stallion Kingdom review below to see how it all works.
The Stallion Kingdom slot has a classic setup, which makes it very easy to play. The slot’s 5x4 grid is slightly offset to the right. A multiplier meter and jackpots flank the reels from both sides, with the controls on the far right. As such, the slot’s easy to play, so you won’t spend hours trying to make it work.
Visually, it’s a bit toned down compared to what we’re used to seeing from JFTW/Games Global slot games. That’s been done intentionally to give the slot a rugged look and feel. The soundtrack is a perfect fit for the theme, just like the sound effects. It gives off old-school vibes while retaining modern features.
The Stallion Kingdom is a fun experience that introduced steeds back into the mainstream slot.
Playing the Stallion Kingdom online slot is easy. You’ll want to adjust your bet first between 20c and $50 per spin to start. The highly volatile math model with 30 paylines is easy to read. You need 3 or more matching symbols per line for a win, with wilds stepping in to link wins together. They substitute for all regular symbols except for the scatter.
There aren’t any surprises in the base game. Land matching symbols across a payline to hit wins with or without wilds. However, to make things a bit more exciting, the developer has introduced a few specials.
The coin symbols are featured front and center. Coin symbols can land on the reels in the base game, and there’s a pink coin holder above each reel. Whenever a coin lands, it’s added to the respective holder. Collect 3 to activate the Wild Herd feature on the respective reel or reels. A wild herd symbol will be placed on the top of the reel, which expands one position down per spin. The feature ends when it reaches the bottom.
Thunderbird tokens may also appear randomly on the screen. Each one gives you a random chance to trigger the Thunderbird to win the game. The thunderbird tokens appear only on foxes, owls, and A symbols. Click on them when active to reveal a cash prize underneath or one of the four jackpots, which range from 15x to 5,000x the bet.
Landing 3 scatters on the reels will trigger the free spins bonus. You receive an indefinite number of free bonus spins with a starting win multiplier of x1. The multiplier goes up by +1 for each spin. A Wild Herd is activated on the 3rd reel, and landing any wild triggers the same feature on any reel for the duration of the bonus. The free spins end when there are no wilds in sight.
If 2 scatters land on the reels in the base game, they add a point to the super free spins meter. You need a total of 20 points in this meter to trigger the super free spins round. It’s the same thing as the free spins bonus, but this time, the multiplier starts at x5. Also, the Wild Herd feature is active on reels 2 and 4 from the beginning.
There’s no bonus buy feature in the Stallion Kingdom slot.
The Stallion Kingdom is a fun experience that introduced steeds back into the mainstream slot. I started my test with bets of $1, which were fitting due to the slot’s high volatility. It took a few spins in to hit a win, and I mostly benefited from the Wild Herd feature. It triggered way more often than you might think, boosting wins left and right until the bonus round came.
I have to say that it took a number of spins to get to the bonus round. However, the randomly activated Wild Herds did the trick, so I ended up winning over 50x during the free spins, which was decent.
The Stallion Kingdom slot RTP is 96.13%, which is OK for a highly volatile slot game. The maximum win you can hit is 5,000x with the Grand jackpot.
Stallion Kingdom is a slot that single-handedly revives the stallion/steed genre. It’s not the most innovative slot in terms of features, but it does the job of walking wilds and multipliers in the bonus round. The cool thing is that you get indefinite free spins as long as you land wilds, which can certainly make things exciting in the bonus round.
Animal and horse-themed slots are very popular in the slot industry. If you’re looking for alternatives, I suggest checking out hits such as Big Bass Day at the Races or Play’n GO’s Colt Lightning Firestorm.
