Steamworks the Workshop Slot Review

No, folks, Steamworks the Workshop is not a program on PBS or Discovery but is, in fact, the title of a slot game made by Peter & Sons. Sure, a game name doesn’t tell the full story about what you get, so I am here to reveal what Steamworks the Workshop is all about.

Oh, look… it's about old things that ran off steam.

Nurse, would you pass me the cyanide capsules please, and tell the kids that I never thought much of them anyway? Now, while I await the nurse to return, I suppose we could take a look at what this game has to offer. After all, you might want to play it after a long, hard day and let off some steam.

Firstly, I encourage you to read the words that I have typed here, which are in the past, meaning that you are now in the future. As I go full steam ahead and play Steamworks the Workshop for real money, I share with you the pros and cons of this game. In addition to the words I write, you get the free-to-play demo game to see for yourself if you like it or not.

If you do like it, Casinos.com can guide you to the real money casino sites offering new players casino bonuses. If you don’t like it, then there are hundreds of other casino games here at Casinos.com for you to play for free.

Steamworks the Workshop Slot Layout, Theme & Setup

Well, I suppose if you’re designing an old game, then it should come with old-time attributes. Behold ladies and gentlemen, a three-reel slot machine that runs off evaporating H20. Visually, the game is well-designed, there are moving cogs and chains, and has comes with warm grey and brown tones that are all highlighted by the rays of sunlight.

When you spin the reels, the cogs all move to produce the result of your bet. However, I am not a fan of retro-themed slots. Here you get three reels and three rows, with a total of five paylines. To the left of the reels is a multiplier counter that goes up to 10, and to the right is a lever for Free Spin.

I don’t want to say the game is a big pile of steaming doo-doo, but there are better games in the market, and this is not one of Peter & Sons’s greatest accomplishments.

How to Play Steamworks the Workshop Slot

To play Steamworks the Workshop, you must first set the amount you would like to bet per spin of the reels. Select the Bet option, and this will open the pricing list. The various bet amounts on offer range from $0.10 and rise to a max bet cost of $100 per spin. Once you have this set, you can begin playing by selecting the spin button.

Upon pressing the spin, the game will come to life, with all its cogs and clogs maneuvering to action the spinning reels.  The dynamics of play are very basic, given this slot’s design has a purposeful intention of being minimalist in its performance. Wins come from matching three symbols across any of the five paylines that appear. These run horizontally across each of the three rows and then diagonally from top left to bottom right and, lastly, top right to bottom left.

The top or high symbols to earn the biggest payouts are the diamond, horseshoe, 7, star, and the Wild, which is the highest of them all. Lower symbols on the paytable are the plum, grapes, cherries, and the lemon.

Until you land any special feature, the process of playing Steamworks the Workshop is very much a case of spinning the reels and seeing what lands.

Steamworks the Workshop Slot Free Spins, Bonus Features & Bonus Buy

Let us now look at what very few features come with this game.

Free Spins Bonus: To unlock the bonus free spins game, you need to land a golden scatter symbol in the center reel. In the Free Spins bonus, all low-paying symbols are removed, and the multiplier feature increases from x10 to x50. You have ten free spins to win as much as you can.

Respin: If you manage to land the same symbol across two reels, the third reel will respin, giving you that second chance of landing a full slot of the same symbol.

Multiplier Feature: If you have a full slot of the same symbol, you will activate the multiplier feature. This can return a value of up to 10x and will be added to the value of your win.

Buy Bonus: Indicated by the huge BUY sign, selecting this feature opens up the option to pay your way into the bonus game. For 70x the value of your bet, you can enter the free spins bonus game.

My Experience Playing Steamworks the Workshop Slot for Real Money

This kind of casino game was not built for me. The basic dynamics and features are a red flag for me, but I get the charm of playing such games. And kudos to the design team because it does look lovely.

However, I approached the Steamworks Workshop with my bets at $1 per spin, and I only intended to play fifty auto-spins. Within the first three spins, I won big, and with the aid of seven wild symbols and two grapes, I managed a payout of $38.20. I could have cashed out, but I pressed on with my remaining forty-seven spins.

Often, the Respin feature came into play, and general wins seemed to happen frequently. There were positives to this game from a value-for-money perspective. That said, it was a very dull game when it came to entertainment standards. Another win landed following a full slot of cherries and a x3 multiplier, but this only paid out $6, which brought my experience to a close.

I ended up being able to cash out $4.20.
