Arthurian myth is a rich source of inspiration for online slot developers. Titles like King Arthur 10K Ways, Book of King Arthur, and Arthur’s Fortune have all put their own spin on the genre, and now it’s the turn of Sword of Arthur from Thunderkick. In addition to the Arthurian myth genre, the slot also joins the "Book of..." gaming catalog. Join me as I attempt to pull the sword from the stone and see what riches await in this Sword of Arthur slot review. 

The Sword of Arthur slot design is solid, though far from memorable. The online slot machine game utilizes all of the common imagery associated with the genre, with the mythical sword in the stone sitting just to the left of the game grid. 

The reels are populated by symbols that include the iconic sword, a knight’s helmet and armor, a shield, and, of course, King Arthur himself. I found the design, while not particularly original, to be easy on the eyes, with Thunderkick’s trademark colorful approach helping to bring the slot to life. 

I had no problem adjusting to the gameplay in the Sword of Arthur slot, with the game sticking to a conventional 5x3 game grid. The slot has 10 paylines, with winning combinations formed when three or more matching symbols land across one, starting on the leftmost reel. 

The game-screen is easy to understand, with the control panel situated below the reels, allowing players to adjust their stake and hit the autoplay feature easily. 

As I mentioned in the introduction to this Sword of Arthur slot review, the game is centered around the popular "Book of..." gameplay mechanic, which occurs in the free spins bonus. 

To trigger the free spins bonus, players need to hit three or more of the game’s Scatter symbol, which is represented by the Sword, which also acts as a Wild. Players will be rewarded with three, four, or five spins. 

At the start of the round, a symbol is selected at random to be the expanding symbol. Whenever it lands, it will expand and help to form wins. Each time it forms a win, the spin count is reset, and a progressive Multiplier attached to the symbol will increase by one. 

Players also have the option to buy their way into the bonus. They can trigger the bonus for 125x their stake or for 200x their stake with five spins. They can also do it with a guaranteed high-paying Arthur symbol on each spin for 500x their stake. 

For this review, I tested the Sword of Arthur slot on my laptop and mobile. The colorful design lent itself really nicely to mobile play, with the game really popping off the screen. I enjoyed it best in landscape mode, but it functions just as well in landscape mode, depending on the size of your device. 

I highly recommend testing the slot out using the Sword of Arthur demo we have provided in this review before you play for real money. This is an excellent way to determine whether or not you want to play, and it also allows you to explore the paytable and adjust to the slot yourself. 

When playing the demo, I recommend making the most of the Buy Bonus feature. This will open the slot up and allow you to test out the bonuses. 

If you play the Sword of Arthur for real money, the betting range is $0.10 up to $100, which I found to be very comprehensive, covering all budget sizes. 

Sword of Arthur has a good maximum win of 10,000x your stake and is rated as highly volatile. Unfortunately, the game falls short in the RTP department, coming in with a disappointing 94.34%, which is below what I would consider average. 

Overall, I found the Sword of Arthur slot to be a mixed bag. The game has a solid design, and the "Book of..." bonus mechanic is always going to be a success. However, it finds very little interesting to do with the formula, and it falls short with a very disappointing RTP. This low rate makes it hard for me to fully get behind the title, especially when there are so many excellent Book of titles out there that offer the same gameplay with bigger winning potential.
