Sadly, it is not a game about silent bowel discharges but, instead, a game that transports us to Asia in the hunt for the game’s golden prize. Whispering Winds by Play’n GO offers up a rather uninspiring casino game, one that looks to have been regurgitated over and over again. I can only imagine what goes on in meetings when someone suggests that they should make another Asian-themed slot. But here we are, and who knows, perhaps Whispering Winds will surprise us a bit like a silent fart.
For this slot review, I take on Whispering Winds as a real money game. I examine the performance, the software, the gaming features, bonuses, and programming. All details will be covered, and you will get to experience the feature for free. This is because Casinos.com includes official free demos to all their free slot reviews. You will also find information as to where you can play Whispering Winds as a real money casino game.
The Whispering Winds slot by Play’n GO comes with the same imagery as all games with this theme. There is nothing to distinguish the slot from others, but whilst the design is lacking ideas, the game is still very well developed. The layout provides five reels and three rows with 25 paylines from which to win.
The fact that Play’n GO hasn’t gone out to try something different with the genre also makes me question why the game was even made when it plays in the most basic of manners.
When you load Whispering Winds, the first step is to adjust the betting amount that you pay per spin. The slot defaults to $1.50, and this can be adjusted to suit what you can afford. Use the – and + buttons to select your bet. Prices run from $0.05 and go up to $100.
With your bet amount set, you can begin playing Whispering Winds by pressing the spin button or the auto spins button. Now, playing is simple, as you repeatedly press the spin button until you decide to stop playing. Wins are formed by landing three or more of the same symbol. The highest symbol is the Wild, then the warrior, the sword, the jewel, and then the mirror. The lower symbols are J, Q, K, and A.
Beyond pressing spin and hoping to land three, four, or five of these symbols to win, the game does include two special features that can help you win more money.
The first special feature is the Gold Respins. This feature is activated when six gold coins are landed on the reels. These coins carry multipliers that are then added together and set against the value of your bet. You will win the Golden Prize if you manage to fill the entire five reels with gold coins.
The second special feature is the Mega Free Spins, which are triggered when landing three scatter bonus symbols on the reels. During the round of play, there will be a Mega symbol that moves around the reels to help you land big wins in return.
It would be a lie to say that I’m thrilled and excited to play this game. Maybe it’s because it lacks everything, and I have seen the game Whispering Winds a thousand times already. The fact that Play’n GO hasn’t gone out to try something different with the genre also makes me question why the game was even made when it plays in the most basic of manners.
I loaded Whispering Winds from my casino and played 50 spins with bets set at $1 per spin. The first win comes in on the third spin and then the fifth, sixth, and seventh. So, I can’t complain about consistency. However, I will say that wins are met with stupid screaming noises that become annoying. With 25 spins played, the highest win so far is only $2.40, which says a lot about the experience I'm having.
On spin 30, however, I land three scatter symbols and am awarded five free spins. I win $20 on the first spin, thanks to a Mega J symbol and three wilds. On spin three, I win three more spins thanks to a giant scatter. Spin four wins me $22.40. Spin 7 drops a massive win thanks to five jewel symbols equaling $32. The round ends with a total of $74.40 from eight free spins.
My remaining 20 spins play out with very little in return, landing a few wins that are no more than $0.80, except one win at $8.30. By the time my initial 50 spins are played, I am able to cash out $44.80.
Whilst the game was very dull and odd, I can’t argue with the results, a good experience, but unlikely to play again.
The Whispering Winds slot comes with a medium volatility setting, which likely accounts for the success I experienced. The RTP is rated at 96.23%, which is average. The maximum win to be made is 2,000 times the player's betting value. If you were to play at $100 per spin, the jackpot would only come to $200,000, which is not very good value for money.
If you are just in it for the money, then Whispering Winds might attract you. The medium volatility is a benefit, and my experience might have been down to that factor. However, if you are after a total gaming package, then avoid Whispering Winds because there are thousands of games online that look and play like this, with very little to offer.

The Return to Player rating for Whispering Winds is calculated at 96.23%. Based on 10,000,000 spins, it suggests that would be the number of spins needed to play before you win back 96.23 percent of the money you put in the game. But the calculation isn’t exactly the science of how the game works.
