While most in the casino industry will be taking stock of 2024 and planning for the year ahead, some will have closed their doors on what once was a business on the world’s most well-known tourist destinations, the Las Vegas Strip.
As well as land-based casinos, outstanding shows and incredible hotels, the Strip offers world-class culinary cuisine - something you can't get at online casinos. Many of these are operated by celebrity chefs like Gordon Ramsay; need we say more?
Something happened in 2024 that disrupted the number of Vegas restaurants run by celebrity chefs, leaving them to close for good.
One of those to close was MGM Resorts International (MGM) Della's Kitchen at Delano Las Vegas, which originally opened in September 2014.
The farmhouse meets Urban Kitchen-style eateries closed in October 2024, along with MGM's Delano in October. That closure was for renovation reasons, and it moved to a W Hotel, which opened on the property in December.
Another casualty was MGM’s Avenue Café at the MGM Grand, which closed on Nov. 17. This restaurant is scheduled to be replaced with a new concept in February 2025.
MGM Resorts International has revealed that towards the end of January 2025, the International Smoke restaurant at the MGM Grand Las Vegas will close its doors. The restaurant is run by celebrity chef Michael Mina and Golden State Warriors star Steph Curry's wife, Ayesha Curry.
Another closing its doors after 15 years in business is MGM Resorts International, which revealed that celebrity chef’s award-winning restaurant Julian Serrano Tapas at Aria Las Vegas will close on Feb 1st.
Most of my career was spent in teaching including at one of the UK’s top private schools. I left London in 2000 and set up home in Wales raising four beautiful children. I enrolled at University where I studied Photography and film and gained a Degree and subsequently a Masters Degree. In 2014 I helped launch a new local newspaper and managed to get front and back page as well as 6 filler pages on a weekly basis. I saw that journalism was changing and was a pioneer of hyperlocal news in Wales. In 2017 I started one of the first 24/7 free independent news sites for Wales. Having taken that to a successful business model I was keen for a new challenge. Joining the company is exciting for me especially as it is a new role in Europe. I am keen to establish myself and help others to do the same.
