New Suncoast Sportsbook in Las Vegas Is a Massive Upgrade

Suncoast Hotel & Casino in the Summerlin area of Las Vegas opened a new sportsbook just before kickoff to the NFL season. It's a massive upgrade from the previous incarnation.

The sportsbook physically moved from the west side of the casino to the east, where a theater used to operate. The individual flat-screen TVs, desk chairs, and wooden desks for horse racing are all gone.

The new book meets a standard set by some of the finer casino properties on the Strip. Features include multiple types of comfortable leather seating on different levels, a larger-than-life curved video wall, a gaming bar, and little 21st century amenities like USB outlets throughout.

Serving Summerlin Clientele

The Suncoast, a Boyd Gaming property that opened in 2000, is mostly a locals casino. The hotel appeals to tourists in town for golf outings at a melange of top-quality courses in the neighborhood.

Saying the new sportsbook is a massive upgrade might be underselling the improvement. I was invited to the grand opening ceremony last week and was able to get pictures and video.

There’s a 130-foot-long odds ticker and scoreboard above the sportsbook bar for anyone walking by to see. Before heading to the main seating area there are 12 kiosks for betting and a counter with five windows for ticket writers. Longtime sportsbook guests will appreciate the odds sheets that aren’t available at all Las Vegas sportsbooks.

The first wagers placed at the new sportsbook were Suncoast regulars, which was a bit of a surprise compared to other sportsbook openings that give the honor to more notable faces:

Next to the walkway into the heart of the Suncoast sportsbook is a 55 foot bar with 18 gaming machines. The paytables are fair (not great) and there's a progressive for Double Double Bonus Poker players.

There are another eight gaming machines away from the bar on a small landing between the bar and main seating area.

The interior decor is described as “deco-inspired.” I call it vintage and beautiful. Hopefully, the Suncoast can maintain its beauty through the busy football season.

Couches surround the main bowl of seats in the main bowl of the sportsbook. They will eventually require a reservation.

Any fee to reserve seats will go towards food and beverage. Nobody likes to pay to reserve a sportsbook seat but at least this fee will go towards eating and drinking while watching the games.

One feature that’s difficult to show in photos is the lighting - or lack thereof. The lower bowl is on the dark side. This makes the video wall look extra sharp.

In addition to the living room-style setup, numerous large lounge chairs are facing the huge 15-foot tall video wall that checks in at a total of 1,700 square feet. While it’s huge for Suncoast it’s smaller than the largest Las Vegas sportsbooks like Westgate and Circa.

During my visit the sportsbook wasn’t showing horse racing. I reached out to Boyd Gaming and they confirmed there will be horse racing on at least one screen every day. The sportsbook will continue to take wagers but only on the kiosk and on the Boyd Sports app.

I’m on my mobile devices all day and night and always appreciate having a place to charge. There are USB outlets – type A and C varieties – every few feet behind the couches and on the walls behind the main bowl.

Overall, the new Suncoast sportsbook is impressive. It’s large but not massive. The screens are large and crisp while the seating options are all comfortable and plentiful. It’s a major upgrade and part of a property-wide facelift that started last year at Suncoast.

Changes to the casino floor will continue into 2026. The old sportsbook space is already walled off so the casino can get to work on the new Bingo room.
