The Luckiest Casinos in the US, Ranked

Where are you most likely to hit the jackpot in America? Is it the high-end casino in Vegas with the VIP table games and the high-limit slots? Or is it a smaller casino in a state like Minnesota or Michigan?

Thanks to our Casinos.com research, there’s no need for you to visit hundreds (or even thousands) of casinos all across the US in the hopes that you’ll get lucky. Now, you can simply visit one of our luckiest casinos, where you might just have a better chance of landing yourself a win.

We’re going to give a little disclaimer here and remind you that slot machines are random and fair, so in general you have the same chance of winning no matter where you play. There’s nothing saying that you’ll definitely win if you play at the top casino on the list and nothing saying you’ll definitely lose if you play at a casino that wasn’t rated that high.

Remeber, if it were possible to tell exactly which casinos pay out the most on a regular basis, no one would ever gamble anywhere else!

So simply for fun, we decided to look at a selection of casinos in the US and visit Tripadvisor to track mentions of lucky keywords. We looked for words like “winner,” “hand pay,” and “jackpot,” and the more mentions, the higher ranking the casino.

So now, it’s the moment you’ve all been waiting for - our full ranking! Drumroll, please.

First on the list is Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Tampa, Florida, which got an impressive 25.49% on the scale. 50 reviews mentioned the word “jackpot,” and 19 even referenced a “hand pay.”

The casino has 245,000 square feet of gaming space, incorporating lots of slot machines, plus plenty of table games, including poker, blackjack and baccarat.

In other words, more than enough chances to bag yourself a win. One person said, “I hit 4 jackpots. I stayed one night. I had a blast. The machines are as loose as anywhere else.”

Next up, Turning Stone Resort Casino in Verona, New York. The casino got a respectable rating of 24.4% on the scale. The most common word mentioned here was “won,” which came up in 102 reviews. There are over 2,300 slot machines, plus 80 tables, and the casino even has five different golf courses and a day spa.

One very happy reviewer said, “Well, I won the most there of any casino I have been to, my first jackpot of $1200.” Not too bad!

Luckiest Casinos in the US

In third place is Choctaw Casino Resort in Durant, Oklahoma. There were just over 1,100 reviews, and 103 of them mentioned the word “won,” which sure sounds promising. The casino has 7,400 slot machines, including high-stakes games, progressive jackpots, and all the latest games.

“Bye bye Vegas! Hello Choctaw!” said one review (now there’s a sentence we never thought we’d see). The review went on to say, “I play slots all day long and it is super fun! I have won more than I ever did in Vegas. I love this place!”

Rounding out our top four was Mystic Lake Casino Hotel, in Prior Lake, Minnesota. Featuring a luxurious resort, indoor swimming pool, and spa, all set on a picturesque lake, there are many reasons why you might want to visit Mystic Lake Casino.

And according to the Tripadvisor reviews, it’s pretty likely that you’ll take home a win while you’re at it. The casino has just over 600 reviews, with 48 mentioning the word “won” and 24 referencing “lucky,” leading to a total of 20.13% on our scale.

One review put things quite simply, saying, “I didn't win any HUGE jackpots but won enough to stay there and play.”

So, now that you know where you’re likely to land a win, which casinos should you actively stay away from? Let’s examine the five most unlucky casinos in the US.

There are a few reasons why people might want to avoid the Luxor in Las Vegas (the distance from In-N-Out Burger being one of them), but you might be surprised to hear that this is the least lucky casino in all of the US. With just 3.97%, only 55 reviews out of more than 60,000 even mentioned the word “winner.”

You won’t have to venture too far from the Luxor to get to the second casino from the bottom of our list: Excalibur Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. This one got a rating of 4.14% on the scale. There were over 27,000 reviews here, and only 99 mentioned the word “lucky.”

So we weren’t too hopeful, even though the casino has hundreds of slot machines, a full sports book, and table games including keno. According to one person, “I was there for a week and saw 1 small jackpot; the machines were very tight.”

Believe it or not, the third least lucky casino in the US is the Bellagio in Las Vegas. This casino got 4.36% on our scale, which seems quite shocking for such a high-end casino.

You would think that a casino that’s packed with fancy dining options and nightlife and spectacular pools and amenities might pay out a jackpot every so often, right? Only 56 out of 12,000+ reviews used the word “lucky,” so maybe not.

Fourth from the bottom was Circus Circus in Las Vegas. While it is known as one of the most run-down casinos on the Strip, it has all the same slots as you’d find in the more modern casinos, so there’s no real reason why it should be so unlucky compared to the rest.

Circus Circus got 4.42% on our scale, and only two people out of 14,000 mentioned the word “success.” According to one review, “Bring lots of money and expect to give it away. No jackpot winners while I was there.” Sounds pretty standard for Vegas, to be honest.

We also particularly enjoyed the review that said, “My Vegas ritual is to drop a dollar into a slot machine and play until I lose or until I win, whichever comes first. I was so disgusted, I refused to give Circus Circus even that extra dollar.”

Finally, the MGM Grand Las Vegas received a rating of 4.58%. When you’re not dining at celebrity chef restaurants or taking in a show at the MGM Garden Arena, you might want to hit the slots and table games, but unfortunately you might not be that lucky when you do.

One review said, “I spent $3,000 on this vacation for me and my fiancé to get married out there and we lost $9,000 in our first 2 days of 4 days we stayed and didn't even bet high. Rarely even bet $5; it was a nightmare.”

But then again, given that the average gambling budget for a visitor to Vegas is only $787, we have some trouble believing this. But that’s none of our business.
